What part of the Genesis 3 story do you perceive God from? Is it the lens of sin (the fall of man) and Gods anger about sin (His cursing the serpent)?
Or, do you perceive it from the lens of what God did first when Adam & Eve sinned?
God first sought them out. When they admitted their shame and that they were hiding, God asked them, “Who told you that you’re naked?” He’s saying, what voice are you listening to? Why are you believing you should be ashamed of what I created and called good? THEN.”, God sews them clothes! He meets them right where they are, reminds them what He says about them and then pours out His mercy and grace to encourage them as they’re about to walk out the consequences of their sin.
THEN God deals with the sin. Then God deals with Satan. Then God explains the natural & spiritual consequences of rebelling against Him.
So many Christians are trapped in a mindset that views God as angry at man, condemning and only sometimes merciful. But we want to challenge you to consider if that lens is missing the mark. Does God hate sin? Yes. But does God hate His creation that He called “good”? No. In His goodness, He meets us where we are & gives us what we need to get restored to Him and His holiness.
What lens have you been perceiving God, and His children made “good” in His image, with?
