Congratulations, Sophia! Last night, we celebrated the graduation of teens completing the nine-month leadership program through GR Initiative for Leaders.

We are so proud to have Sophia as our GRIL U graduate! She earned the highest score in the dual enrollment class while also earning 4 college credits. We can’t wait to see her growth and leadership continue to blossom. ✨

Throwing it back to 2020 🏡 What started as a historic farmhouse has truly become home. From lively conversations around the table, the smell of soup simmering on the stove, and dirt from the farm tracked through the halls… we’ve loved every part of it.

And now, we’re excited for what’s ahead: a new space to continue growing our youth, community, and future farmer

We’d love to hear from you — how did you first come across New City Neighbors? 💚

We are highlighting our Class of 2026 youth employees! Let’s celebrate Ezra ✨

Erza received a full ride scholarship to attend Northern Michigan University to study indoor agriculture this Fall. As a capstone project Ezra built a tiny home from the ground up alongside friends and family.

This summer, after earning 1st place at a state competition in 3D animation, Ezra will travel to Atlanta to compete at nationals for the same event.

We’re so excited to see Ezra’s journey!

We interviewed 41 candidates for our youth employment positions! Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word and to each young person who came in to interview. We’re excited to welcome new youth leaders this summer and continue empowering the next generation.

We recognize the importance of investing in the next generation of leaders in our food system, which is why we partner with MSU as a cohort site for their Organic Farmer Training Program.

Yesterday marked our first day on-site at NCN, where participants learned how to build rainwater collection barrels, planted at Ball Ave, created mounds for Three Sisters planting, and so much more.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to provide hands-on training experiences that equip future growers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. 🌱

We will be highlighting our Class of 2026 youth employees! Let’s start by celebrating Nadia ✨

After high school, Nadia plans to study internationally in Rome, exploring her passions for psychology and early childhood education.

Throughout high school, Nadia has brought creativity and heart to everything she’s done—from the stage (where she shined as Anne in Anne of Green Gables) to performing with the Jeweltones jazz choir. She’s also been an active member of her church community, showing a deep commitment to connection and service.

We’re so excited to see where Nadia’s journey takes her next!
