Did you know INCHE's executive director, Deb Haarsma, is an astrophysicist, writer and speaker? Check out one of her recent articles, shared by our affiliate member American Scientific Affiliation!

“The heavens declare the glory of God in the person of Jesus Christ.”

Explore how modern astrophysics illuminates the timeless truth of the Incarnation in Deborah Becker Haarsma’s article, :The Incarnation Sheds Light on Astrophysics," in the Nov/Dec 2025 issue of Christianity Today. Haarsma, ASA member, astrophysicist, author, and former president of BioLogos, shows how the heavens declare God’s glory in Jesus Christ.

“The inconceivable vastness of the universe does not diminish God—it shows us more of his greatness.”

“The Incarnation answers deep questions raised by modern astrophysics about our purpose and significance in the universe.”

In the article Deborah explains why we need better narratives than the idea that faith and science are at odds. The coming of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago gives powerful answers to today’s questions and reminds us that the discoveries of science reveal God’s greatness, not diminish it. A compelling read for anyone navigating faith in a tech-driven world.

October is a busy month for conferences! Check out this opportunity from Theologische Universiteit Utrecht. Call for Papers ends June 1.

How should pedagogical and theological leaders and institutions express and embody authority in an era in which leadership is fragile? What forms of authority are fruitful in educational, pastoral care and church leadership? This topic is a logical follow-up of the findings of the previous conference, in which we observed that the loss of traditions went hand in hand with uncertainty about authority. The urgency for this theme is strengthened by our observation that churches and schools are in need for leaders who are not only able and willing to interpret our fragile world wisely, but who also have the courage to act wisely and, in the meantime, can sensitively guide people in forming their own judgments.

The conference aims to promote conversation between scholars and researchers from universities and practitioners working in the context of education and the church. Next to keynote lectures, we will have room for paper presentations and other activities.
