MONDAY-Hope starts with small beginnings- Micah 5:2-6
God's ancient covenant with Israel is secure and reliable, even if it may come in an unexpected manner. It is a consistent theme through the bible that God enjoys upsetting human expectations. The promise in Micah is that God may appear in surprising ways. Are we prepared to be surprised?
TUESDAY- Hope from the Beginning-Genesis 3:15
Genesis 3:15 is known as the protoevangelium. This is a compound of two Greek words, protos meaning "first" and evangelion meaning "good news" or "gospel". Thus, the verse is commonly referred to as the first mention in the Bible of the "good news" of salvation.
WEDNESDAY-Hope riding on a Donkey- Zechariah 9:9-17
The King is coming! The King is prophesied to come lowly, meek, humble, gentle and in an unassuming nature. Maybe like a young, pregnant woman giving birth in a manger. Remember that Jesus Christ has nothing to prove. He does not need to impress people with His appearances.
THURSDAY- Hope in a baby- Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6
The Angel’s promise to Mary sounded a lot like the prophecy given to Isaiah. The child of promise carries the many divine names of God. A supernatural event made even more amazing in that it was predicted hundreds of years earlier
FRIDAY- A prophesied star of Hope- Number 24:17-19
During the early and developmental years in Israel’s history, a star is predicted to be pointing to a King. Many believe this may have been one of the prophecies that started the Magi (wise men) on their journey.
SATURDAY- Hope through one last Prophet- Deuteronomy 18:15-18
God did not only give the Israelites Moses but promised a mediator even greater. The ultimate fulfillment of this came in Jesus. He is the physical manifestation of God in flesh, the very Word of God Himself. Likely the word prophet in verse 17 is singular to signal to us that this is a Messianic prophecy. It goes beyond just what is written on the pages.
