“Today’s passage of HR 734 is shameful, and puts politics over the wellbeing of kids. At a time when dozens of states are introducing and passing legislation that harm our most vulnerable youth—more than 500 bills to date and counting—we need lawmakers in Washington to do their job and make laws that reduce harm to kids and families in this country. To our legislators, we say: PFLAG families with transgender and nonbinary kids are your relatives and neighbors, your colleagues and friends, your constituents. We will continue leading with love to ensure that all kids are safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved so that they can live their best and fullest authentic lives.”

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ On Tuesday President Biden signed the into law! This means our federal government recognizes marriages and guarantees full benefits “regardless of the couple’s s*x, race, ethnicity, or national origin.”

It's a move to legislatively protect marriage equality at the federal level, in case the Supreme Court attempts to reverse its 2015 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same s*x marriage nationwide. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle started working on the act after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
