Lakeshore Baptist Church

Lakeshore Baptist Church We’re a bunch of imperfect, don’t have it all-together people who are seeking to know God and make Him known. You can see more about this under small groups.

Our heartbeat is to be knowing God and making Him known. We’re a bunch of imperfect, don’t have it all-together people who genuinely believe that a relationship with God is more joyful than anything this world has to offer. The psalmist says about God, “In your presence there is fullness of joy and at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps 16:11). From knowing God and experiencing joy we g

o to “making Him known.” Sometimes that happens in conversation with other Christians as we speak into each others lives. Recently, I’ve had Christian friends in my small group make God more known in my life as they have encouraged me in my walk with Him. Other times, we make Him known by building relationships with others who have no clue who Jesus is. People need to know that God demonstrated His love to us by sending His Son to stand in our place of punishment. Forgiveness of sins and a new life is possible through Christ alone (John 14:6, Eph 2:8-9). We also make Him known through our missions ministry. In Acts 1:8 Jesus told His followers to go make disciples, both locally and globally. Take a look at the missions page to see what it looks like for Lakeshore to be involved in global missions. So, how do we accomplish this task of knowing God and making Him known? We have 4 core values that function as pillars for us. By no means have we mastered them, but they function as guideposts along the way. Here they are:

Text: We believe that the Bible has the answers to all the issues of life. It is God’s gift to us as He builds us up with the truth of Scripture (2 Tim 3:16-17). Community: We’re talking about relationships that push one another toward Christ (Heb 10:24). Allowing Christians to speak into your everyday life is crucial for the Christian walk. Missions: Both local and global mission is crucial for us. If Jesus commands it, we will want to obey (Matt 28:19-20). Prayer: Prayer expresses a posture of dependence on God (Phil 4:6). May God teach us to pray more and more, both corporately and individually. Our hope is not that you’ll be impressed with us, but rather that you will be impressed with a great, big view of the one, true, holy God. And, may we as a church be gazing toward Him and helping others come to know Him. For Him,
Nate Birkholz

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Protecting Unity with the Lord's Supper" - Part 2 from 1 Corinthians 11:17-22. Spiritual amnesia happens. We forget the sacrificial love of Christ on our behalf and become distracted with other details in life. But, this coming Sunday we will finish our short series on the Lord's Supper and intentionally remember Him with the practice of communion.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the gymnasium with the proposed budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year being presented, and a devotion from Eric Emmons.

No Evening Service...this month due to the remodel.

No Livestream on Sunday Mornings...due to the Building Remodel. Audio will be available on the website as usual.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Protecting Unity with the Lord's Supper" - Part 1 from 1 Corinthians 11:17-22. We are returning back to chapter 11 for the next two weeks and studying the unity of the local church around the Lord's Table. The problem was that the Corinthians were so wrongfully divided that their practice of the Lord's Supper was actually invalidated. There are crucial lessons to learn and practices to apply within this important passage so that our church reflects Biblical, God-honoring unity.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the gymnasium...This is the third of a three-week series on Baptist Distinctives, with Pastor Mike Schaap. This week we will answer the questions that were submitted on Baptist Distinctives.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Stephen brings the message, "The Importance of Love" from 1 Corinthians 12:28-13:1-8a. Scripture is filled with many beautiful passages that seem to be made for coffee mugs and decorative posters, and 1 Corinthians 13 could certainly fit into that category. But within this wonderful passage about love is also a difficult call - to live a life that models that beauty consistently in the world around us. So on Sunday, we'll not only talk about the beauty of biblical love, but also about the high calling this love places on our lives.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the gymnasium...This is the second of a three-week series on Baptist Distinctives, with Pastor Mike Schaap. As we have come from the broad explanation of Protestantism and contrasted that with Roman Catholicism (and Eastern Orthodoxy), this is a perfect time to narrow in to why our church is 'baptistic.' Is being 'Baptist' just about if we baptize, or when we baptize, or how we baptize? What else distinguishes Baptists? As Pastor Mike works through these distinctives, be ready for the third week when we will have a Q&A on Baptist Distinctives. Q&A sheets are available on the ushers' table, with baskets to drop them in, or you can email questions to:

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Belonging and Being the Body of Christ" from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. The human body is a work of Creative Genius. Its connectivity and interdependence has the best doctors and researchers regularly amazed. God has so designed the church to be a body in its own way with each person being interdependent with others to live the Christian life.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "The Spirit's Unity in the Church's Diversity" from 1 Corinthians 12:1-13. In our Christian "circles" we tend to minimize the Spirit of God. It might be that we've over-reacted to bad theology elsewhere, and are now missing the important role of the Spirit. However, it's crucial for every Christian to see that only by the Spirit can we truly be saved and united in Christ.
(We'll come back to the second half of chapter 11 in a few weeks).

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the Gymnasium. Eric Emmons and Rich Kolmus will continue answering the questions that have been submitted concerning Protestantism and Roman Catholicism. Their goal is to inform, to establish believers in the truth, and to stir up a gospel-love for those we know who have not yet found rest in Jesus. There have been many questions submitted, and they will try to get through as many as possible in the ABF Hour.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Headship, Hair, and Cultural Expressions" from 1 Corinthians 11:2-26. Based on this passage, should we hand out head-scarves at the door for all women?

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "The Good of Others, The Glory of God" from 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1. How we view others might be the strongest indicator of how we view God. As we conclude another section in 1 Corinthians, God's Word helps us see that a God-glorifying life follows the example of Jesus who poured out His life for the good of others.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the auditorium. Rich Kolmus will present on Roman Catholic distinctives this Sunday. And May 3rd, there will be a opportunity for Questions and Answers. As you listen and process the distinctives, please be writing down questions for more discussion or clarification. Feel free to drop the questions in the basket on the table outside the auditorium, or email Eric Emmons ([email protected]) by Wednesday, May 29th, with your questions. The panel will try to answer as many questions as possible during that ABF hour, and there may be an opportunity to ask follow up questions also.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "The Great Escape" from 1 Corinthians 10:11-14. Last week we covered the big picture of chapter 10. This week, we'll come back to the center of the chapter and look more closely at the verses which speak to God's faithfulness in the midst of our temptation.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the auditorium. We seem to be in a cultural moment in which people are gravitating toward 'high church' or 'liturgical' churches, like Roman Catholicism. Do we preach the same gospel just with different church polity? ABF Hour for the next three weeks will help us wade through the distinctions between Protestants and Roman Catholics. On April 22nd, Eric Emmons will present on the distinctives of Protestants. Then April 29th, Rich Kolmus will present on Roman Catholic distinctives. And May 3rd, there will be a opportunity for Questions and Answers. As you listen and process the distinctives, please be writing down questions for more discussion or clarification. Feel free to drop the questions in the basket on the table outside the auditorium, or email Eric Emmons at [email protected] by May 1st with your questions. The panel will try to answer as many questions as possible during that ABF hour, and there may be an opportunity to ask follow up questions also.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Run by Participating with Christ" from 1 Corinthians 10:1-22. The Christian life is sometimes metaphorically described as a race. And, one of the very important gifts that God provides us in the race is participation with Christ. This Sunday we'll look at how the Christian life is energized by fellowship with our Savior.

Combined ABF, with Youth...in the auditorium. Pastor Stephen and Pastor Deron will give a report about their recent Missions Encouragement trip to Africa.

Sunday Morning...Pastor Nate brings the message, "Raised with Christ" from Colossians 3:1-4. On Easter Sunday, Pastor Nate will take some time to share the events of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus along with important implications for Christians. Please pray that God uses all activities of the morning (breakfast, baptisms, singing, prayer, preaching) to make much of Him on this day when we especially focus on our resurrected Savior.
