Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, today’s second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

+First, a gentle reminder about email phishing scams—we will never ask you to buy gift cards or send an email requesting you help us with a “discreet matter.” And as a general rule of thumb, you should NEVER buy a gift card and share the numbers or pin with anyone electronically for any reason. Our email system is secure—the emails some of you received were from gmail—not my email with the church domain at the end. And unfortunately we cannot stop people from taking publicly available information and trying to use it to scam generous and helpful people. So when you receive those emails, the best thing you can do is mark it as spam and delete it. And of course, if you are unsure about any email that sounds weird but looks like it came from HSLC, then call the office.
+In order to help us assess our communication to the congregation and broader community, we are asking everyone to complete an 11 question “Communications Audit” online by June 15. There are some hard copies available in the narthex as well, but we encourage you to use the link in the announcements and on our HSLC page. And if you say, but I don’t get emails from the church, so how will I get the link? Then you have identified one reason why we are doing this audit.
