Sunday, Pastor Terry shared a message titled “Knowing the Shepherd’s Voice: Do You Know Him Well Enough to Follow?”

In John 10, Jesus describes Himself as the Shepherd whose sheep recognize His voice and follow Him because they know Him.

Pastor Terry reminded us that recognizing the Shepherd’s voice comes from knowing Him personally.

As we spend time in His Word, prayer, worship, and daily obedience, we become more familiar with His character and truth.

The Shepherd knows His sheep by name. He walks ahead of them, and they follow because they know His voice.

But not every voice we hear belongs to the Shepherd. We must learn to recognize His voice, trust His care, and refuse to follow voices that lead us away from Him.

Jesus is looking for great followers.

As we continue The Glorious Quest, may we grow closer to Christ, learn to recognize His voice, and faithfully follow wherever He leads.

THE POWER OF ONE PICTURE

There is something profoundly powerful about this photograph.

Three generations. A minister of the Gospel. A young father. And his son.

The father is standing before the congregation, reading the Resolution for Men that we recently placed into the hands of every man at Grand Bay Community Church. It is a declaration of his commitment to God, to his family, and to the responsibility of leading his home according to God's Word.

Standing beside him is his young son. He may not fully understand everything his father is reading, but he is watching. He is listening. And he is learning.

Before them sits a table with a Bible and a cross—reminders that Christ must remain at the center of everything we are and everything we do.

One generation proclaiming the truth. Another generation embracing the responsibility. And the next generation watching it unfold.

This is how a godly legacy is built. Not merely through what we tell our children, but through what they see us believe, what they see us value, and how they see us live.

Deuteronomy 6 reminds us that the truths of God are to be passed from one generation to the next, not merely in a church building, but in the everyday life of the home.

A picture of three generations. A picture of responsibility. A picture of discipleship. A picture of hope for the generations yet to come.

May we never underestimate what God can accomplish through one father who determines to follow Christ and lead his family in His ways.

“Knowing the Shepherd’s Voice”

Do we know Jesus well enough to follow Him? In this message from Sunday, October 11, 2026, we continue The Glorious Quest in John 10 and learn what it means to recognize the Shepherd’s voice. The sheep follow because they know Him. He calls them by name, goes ahead of them, and they run from a stranger’s voice. We look at what it takes to know His voice, trust His lead, test what we hear against Scripture, and pay attention to how we hear.

This week, we are praying for Kazakhstan.

During Sunday’s service, Sister Natasha shared the story of Brother A.Z., a pastor and church planter in Central Asia.

In 1994, Brother A.Z., and a small community of Christians experienced threats against themselves and their families. Yet during that season, he said the church experienced an “extra grace from God” and tremendous growth.

Their church grew from three people to 250 within four years.
Today, Brother A.Z. focuses much of his ministry on disciplining the second generation, preparing them to follow Christ and endure persecution.

As he shared:
“Disciples are our crowns. That is the greatest reward.”
This week, remember the people of Kazakhstan in prayer. Pray for their protection, for strength from God, for unity in the church, and for pastors and believers to remain faithful to Christ despite persecution.

Sunday, the men of GBCC were challenged to consider the kind of lives they are building and the example they are setting.

Each man received The Resolution as a reminder that biblical manhood requires more than words.

Brother Eric challenged the men of the church to take responsibility for what God has entrusted to them, live under the authority of God’s Word, cultivate and guard their homes, invest in those who come after them, and use their strength to serve.

This week, men who received The Resolution are encouraged to reread it prayerfully and choose one commitment to put into practice.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

What’s going on at GBCC?

School of Christ meets Sunday mornings at 9:10 AM with Sister Lisa Shackleford, both in person and by livestream, followed by Sunday Worship at 10:00 AM.

On Tuesday nights, we gather for a fellowship meal at 5:30 PM. Adult School of Christ begins at 6:00 PM as we continue The Glorious Quest: A Sacred Pursuit, and GBCC Youth also meets at 6:00 PM.

We’re also preparing for water baptisms on Sunday, October 18. If you would like to be baptized, let church leadership know so they can sit down with you beforehand and make sure you understand this important step.

Before Adam received a wife, God gave him responsibility.

Brother Eric reminded us Sunday that godly manhood is not primarily about privilege. It is about responsibility.

God gave Adam something to cultivate and something to guard.
What has God placed under your care?

Your marriage.
Your children.
Your spiritual life.
Your integrity.
Your work.
Your home.

Cultivate what God has entrusted to you. Guard it faithfully.

Before Adam could lead anyone else, Adam himself had to be led by God.

The same is true today.

A man cannot exercise biblical leadership while refusing biblical authority.

Brother Eric challenged the men of GBCC to establish a daily pattern of Scripture and prayer and ask more than, “What does the Bible say?”

Ask: What am I going to change because the Bible says it?

Our Adult School of Christ continues The Glorious Quest: A Sacred Pursuit.

As Pastor Terry reminded us Sunday: “The Glorious Quest is the sacred pursuit of Christ Himself, laying aside every lesser treasure to follow the King, to behold His beauty, and to be transformed into His likeness.”

Don’t leave Sunday’s message at church.

Home Church #40 is available in your family mailbox this week and continues Brother Eric’s message, “ Designed for Glory: A Man’s Responsibility.”

Each week, Home Church gives families an opportunity to take what they heard on Sunday, discuss the Scriptures together, and apply the message at home.

Parents, and especially the man of the house where there is one, are encouraged to lead their families through the lesson during the week.

This week, choose one responsibility God has entrusted to you. Identify one specific step you will take, pray about it together, and put it into practice.

Make sure you check your family mailbox and take your Home Church lesson with you!
