The President of the United States has issued a proclamation for display of the United States flag at half-staff until sunset on Monday, August 30, 2021, as mark of respect for the U.S. service members killed in the terrorist attack on August 26, 2021 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and gathering restrictions, The Jessie S. Poole American Legion Post 297, Graceville is regretfully canceling all Memorial Day events for 2020.

We will have our Flags of Honor display out at the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery from sunrise until 12 noon for those that would like to pay their respects as they feel appropriate.

In closing, I also ask those of you who have an American Flag in your yard or place of business, to please lower it to half-staff during this same period of time in honor of our fallen veterans.

Very nice program at the CGB high school. They demonstrated flag folding along with meanings behind reach fold.

Thank you for your service Donald Tritz and Marvin Rahrlien.

The 2nd annual Veterans Pheasant hunt was held at OMK Firewater Lodge in Clinton. Marge Karsky and her family provided this opportunity. Also was held on Marge's late husband Otto's birthday. He was a Korean War veteran.

Thanks Marge and family for the fun day.

There have been some questions about this years Memorial Day program.

Unfortunately, there will be no parade this year! The program will begin at the cemetery starting at 11:00am. If weather causes an issue we will have it in the high school gym at 11am. We will make that call Monday morning.

The community pot luck will start at noon in the community building. Please refer to this weeks Northern Star if you have any questions. Hope to see you at our program rain or shine!-Duane
