E’mile Zola, a French novelist said, “We are like books. Most people only see our cover, the majority read only the introduction, many people believe the critics, few will know our content.” The Cover is; your physical appearance, job title, social media profile, or the very first quick impression you make. Most people stop here. The Introduction is; a brief chat or a single meeting. Just a small taste of who you really are. The Critics; this is the gossip and rumors or what other people say about you. The Content is; your real thoughts, feelings, history and deep personality. Only a very rare and special few take the time to truly know you. People look at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart, 1 Samuel 16:7. Jesus tells people to stop judging by appearance and to judge correctly with righteous judgment, John 7:24. Avoid superficial, snap judgments, instead use moral discernment, rooted in truth, fairness, and God’s standards. Does the cover of your book represent what is on the inside of you? D.W.

If you feed your spirit only once a week yet your senses are fed all day long all week, sense knowledge will reign over revelation knowledge. What you feed becomes strong. What you neglect becomes weak. The Word of God must be given a throne, not a brief visit, not a passing glance, a throne. Meditation on the Word of God is filling your mind with what God has spoken. It is disciplined attention, covenant focus. It is bringing your mind, your imagination, mouth and will under the authority of God‘s Word. A starving spirit will eventually show itself. Faith receives the Word of God as final authority and lives accordingly. D.W.

When the devil whispers to you that “You cannot withstand the storm.” Let him hear the Warrior in you shout, “I AM THE STORM.” You possess the inner strength, the resilience, to be more powerful, more fierce, more unstoppable, than the troubles you face. You are not a victim of your problems. You cannot always stop bad things from happening, but you have complete control over how fiercely you fight back. Nahum 1:3 says, “The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm.” God serves as a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat, says Isaiah 25:4. Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty,” declares Psalms 93:4. That means, God is far more powerful and majestic than any overwhelming, chaotic or frightening force in the universe. God‘s rule and strength is always superior.

The Word of God is given to quicken, nourish, strengthen, correct and form you from within. Jesus says in John 6:63, “The Words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” The Word of God is the food for your recreated spirit and must be eaten, turned over, spoken, held, pondered, considered, prayed, confessed and obeyed until it is no longer a sentence you remember but a reality that has begun to shape you and becomes the atmosphere you breathe, the judgment you trust, the language you speak and the identity you live from. God, let Your Word possess and rule my spirit! D.W.

Aren’t you glad God doesn’t give up on you? Throughout the Bible, God‘s redemption and restoration power leap off the pages. We serve a God who buffs what is broken, restores what is rusted and heals what seems hopeless. The wreckage you see today is the material from which God loves to work to make something new. God can heal, rebuild and compensate for loss, wasted time, pain, or missed opportunities, Joel 2: 25-26. God promises to repair and make up for your losses. D.W.

The truth is we all have to contend with hard things in our daily lives. This is the reality of living in a sin ridden, broken world. You can do hard things because God is with you and He is your strength, Deuteronomy 31:6. He is your very present help in times of trouble and has promised to never leave or forsake you, Psalm 46:1, Hebrews 13:5. You can do hard things even when your hearts are bruised and battered, even when you are sick, even when you are so weary, you can’t take another step. Yes, you will face hard things, but God has promised His presence, His provision, His protection, His perfect plan to be fulfilled. When you come to the end of yourself, only then are you empty enough for God to fill you with His grace and strength. The truth is He sustains and strengthens you even when you are completely unaware. D.W.

God says, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, “Do not fear; I will help you,” Isaiah 41:13. God was speaking to the nation of Israel offering reassurance and a promise of protection against fear and external threats. That same offer extends to you! God Himself takes hold of your right hand and says to you, “Do not fear, I will help you!”God holding your hand symbolizes personal guidance, close relationship, and divine intervention and the right hand represents strength, action and capability. You can be so grounded in God’s active presence and in His promise to help you that you will know, No Fear. God is actively shielding you from harm and helping you work through your challenges. D.W.

God places a spiritual shield around you to keep you safe and protected from sudden danger, evil, and destruction, for a future purpose. He keeps your soul secure and your faith from failing and ensures that you stay connected to Him. Your story is not finished yet. Delays and hardships are not abandonment. Nehemiah 9:6 declares, “You are the Lord, You alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas, and all that is in them, and you preserve all of them, and the host of heaven worships you.” D.W.
