It will be chilly out, but we'll have hot coffee available and we'd love to see you January 25, at 9:30 am for our worship service and then stay for our Discovery Hour classes for all ages at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Newman's sermon will be: “Yahweh and Moses: The Lord Doesn’t Suffer Fools” (Numbers 14:11-45)—When the Lord’s people heard the intimidating report from the ten “little-godders”, they were overwhelmed with terror and convinced God was going to let them all be killed by their enemies. There are consequences to face when we don’t trust in God, and except for Joshua and Caleb, the whole generation of doubters would be barred from entering the Promise Land. Regretting their mistake, many of the people went against God’s new orders once again and tried to take the Promised Land without the Lord’s help. I don’t have to tell you how that ends for them.

“Sanctity of Human Life Sunday: Abortion Is the Opposite of the Gospel” (Psalm 139)—Josh Howerton offers this profound comparison of the Gospel and Abortion: “Abortion is the evil reverse-image of the Gospel. Instead of ‘I’ll die for you,’ it says, ‘You die for me.’” In this message we will look at where abortion comes from, what it looks like in Nebraska, why the Gospel is the answer, and how doing the right thing cannot ruin your life. Join us this Sunday for Worship with Pastor Scott Newman at 9:30am.

Join us for Worship Service this Sunday 9:30. Pastor Scott's Sermon will be “Yahweh and Moses: The Lord Is Far Too Big to be Doubted” (Numbers 13:1-14:11)—Decades before Princeton Seminary slouched into liberalism, they produced some of the greatest preachers of the early 20th century—men such as Donald Gray Barnhouse. Barnhouse was invited back to campus to speak in chapel and the learned professor and scholar Robert Wilson sat on the front row. He told his former student after his sermon, “When my boys come back, I come to see if they are big-godders or little-godders, and then I know what their ministry will be. I’m glad you are big-godder!” In Numbers 13 and 14 we meet two men who are “big-godders” and 10 who are “little-godders.”

Join us this Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 9:30am for our worship service. We'll have coffee available. Discovery Hour Classes start at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Newman's sermon will be: “Yahweh and Moses: The Lord Is a Better Defender of You than You Are” (Numbers 12:1-15)—the easiest, most common mess up we make, especially in leadership, is to become defensive. In today’s account Moses’ brother and sister, who’ve mostly supported his leadership, criticize him for the wife he chose. It is a petty, personal, and ugly attack. But Moses, wisely, gets out of God’s way and trusts Him to be his defender. Then, the humble leader begs the Lord to ease up on His punishment of his siblings.

Join us on December 21 for our Worship Service at 9:30am and Discovery Hour Classes at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Newman's Sermon will be: "The Wonder of Obedience" (Matthew 1:18-25). In spite of the evil of the day, the Bible tells us that God's timing was perfect in the sending of His Son: "When the time set had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, to redeem those under the Law, that we might receive adoption to sonship" (Galatians 4:45). Join us this Sunday as we consider Joseph and His obedience.

What a wonderful time to worship with us on December 14 at 9:30am! Enjoy some coffee and fellowship then head to a Discovery Hour Class at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Newman's sermon: “The Wonder of Worship” (Luke 1:26-56) You could spend a lifetime searching for a story as beautiful and wondrous as the nativity and never find it. The narrative of Christ’s birth is compelling because it is true. The characters are real people with real problems and real hopes. Even the birth story of the one who would announce the Messiah’s ministry is an account of singular beauty and wonder. Two women both pregnant by a miracle separated by a generation meet and one of the unborn babies dances in the womb with joy! Filled with the Holy Spirit each of the expectant moms speak with prophetic worship.

Join our worship service, as we start our Christmas Series on December 7 at 9:30am. Pastor Scott Newman's sermon will be: "Advent 2025: The Wonder of Redemption's Story" (Luke 1:5-25) It was December 17, 1903, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur had just made history by sustaining an airplane flight airborne for 59 seconds. Excited, they raced to the telegraph office to wire word to their family. The brothers’ sister received the message which read: “First sustained flight today. 59 seconds. Hope to be home for Christmas.” Sister took the message to the local paper with hopes they'd run a story and, sure enough, the next day the “Dayton Daily News” printed an article with the headline, “Local Bicycle Merchants to be Home for Christmas.” There was nothing in the article about the flight! They missed the point. That reminds me a bit of Christmas. We can miss the point! My prayer is that our worship throughout Advent 2025 will be a reminder of the story of redemption which runs throughout God’s Word. We start with the parents of John the Baptist and their story recorded in Luke 1.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving! We hope to see you on Sunday, November 30 at 9:30am for our Worship Service with Discovery Hour Classes at 11:00am. Pastor Scott's sermon will be: “Yahweh and Moses: The Lord Doesn’t Want You to Carry the Burden Alone” (Numbers 11)—Would you be surprised that some studies indicate the average person complains 15-30 times a day? Once again, the children of Israel murmured against the Lord. But, this time, it hit Moses the wrong way—deeply. Soon he found himself in a swamp of despair and discouragement, even to the point that he asked to just kill him! God seized the opportunity to address a longstanding problem in Moses and that was insistence in trying to carry the burden of leadership all on himself. Healthy churches, families, and friendships include people coming alongside of one another and shouldering the load together.
