How to connect with God

Have you ever noticed how the people you spend the most time with start to rub off on you? You pick up their habits, the way they think, and sometimes even the way they respond to certain situations. The same thing happens as we grow in our relationship with Jesus. There's a reason the Bible calls Him the Second Adam. Through Adam, humanity experienced the consequences of sin, but through Jesus, we're given the opportunity to become who God created us to be. And what's interesting is how that change actually happens in our everyday lives. Every time we open our Bibles, spend time talking with God, or surround ourselves with people who are growing in their faith, we're giving ourselves opportunities to know Jesus better. We begin to recognize His character, see how He's working in other people's lives, and learn what it looks like to trust Him in our own circumstances. Over time, that relationship starts influencing the way we think, the choices we make, and how we treat the people around us.

So it's worth asking ourselves, who or what is having the greatest influence on the person we're becoming? Because the more we grow in our relationship with Jesus, the more His influence can be seen in the way we live. 🙌

How much of our peace depends on things going the way we expected? We make plans, trust people to follow through, and hope certain situations will work out, but life has a way of reminding us how much is outside our control. And when something falls through, it can leave us questioning what we can really count on. That's why God's promises matter so much. When Paul tells us that every promise of God finds its “Yes” in Jesus, he's reminding us that our confidence in God has a solid foundation. We can look at what Jesus has already done and know that God is faithful to His word. Think about how much that changes the way we handle disappointment, uncertainty, or even the fear of what might happen next.

We may still have questions about our circumstances, but we can have confidence about where we stand with God because of Jesus. And the more we learn to rest in that truth, the less our sense of security has to rise and fall with everything happening around us. There's a lot of peace in knowing that the most important promise we could ever depend on is already secure in Christ. 🙏

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:20

Ever feel like you're ready for the next thing in life, but God seems to be taking His time? 😅 We've all been there! We have our plans, our timelines, and a pretty good idea of how we'd like things to work out, but God often has some growing to do in us along the way.

When the Israelites were in the wilderness, God gave them what they needed each day while teaching them to depend on Him. And sometimes that's exactly how He works in our lives, too. He's teaching us patience, building our trust, and helping us grow in ways we might not even notice yet. 💜

So if you're in a season of waiting, keep showing up, keep trusting God, and pay attention to what He's teaching you right where you are. You might be surprised by how much you're growing!

"Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands." - Deuteronomy 8:2
