In 2018 we had to say goodbye to very special friend of Light Christian Academy: Mr. Gene Oliver. As his health allowed him to, Mr. Gene volunteered with Light Christian Academy’s athletics program. He had a passion for youth sports, believing that they could build both physical strength and strength of character.
At the end of the 2018-2019 school year, Light Christian Academy began presenting a new award. This special sports award was created in memory of Mr. Gene. It recognizes one male student and one female student each year who participated in a conference sport and who demonstrated team leadership, an improvement in athletic skills, school spirit, and—above all—outstanding Christian character and sportsmanship.
