Happy Independence Day! May God grant us the wisdom to govern this nation according to His word.

Whenever we have abandoned our acknowledgement and dependence on You Lord, we have drifted. But You, Father, in Your graciousness, called us back to Yourself. We suffer from this tendency to become prideful and self-sufficient. Forgive us.

Call this nation back to Yourself, Oh Lord. We ask Your forgiveness for our pride and independence and other ways we have departed from You. We humble ourselves before You today, this 250th birthday of our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain, but not from You. We acknowledge our great need for You. Keep us close to You, Lord. Keep us firmly rooted in Your Word!

We surrender to You, Lord.

I Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen!

PRAYER ON THE LAWN continues on June 4, First Thursday, at the Historic Elkhart County Courthouse Lawn at 12 noon on the North side by the picnic tables!

Come join us to lift up our prayers to our great God for our cities, county, state and nation this 250th year!
