SMITH WIGGLESWORTH AND THE DAY HE FOUGHT UNBELIEF
Smith Wigglesworth once received an invitation to pray for a man who had been bedridden for years. When he entered the house, he sensed something heavy in the room—not sickness, but unbelief.
Family members were crying. Neighbors were whispering, “If God wills…”
Wigglesworth stopped them immediately.
He said, “God’s will is already written. I have not come to find out if God will heal—I have come to enforce what He has already said.”
Then he did something unexpected.
Instead of praying for the sick man, he began to rebuke the atmosphere. He commanded fear to leave. He ordered doubt out of the room. He told everyone who did not believe to step outside.
Only a few remained.
Then Wigglesworth turned to the man and shouted, “Get up in the name of Jesus Christ!”
The man tried to speak, but Wigglesworth interrupted him again:
“I did not ask you how you feel. I told you what to do.”
With trembling legs, the man swung his feet off the bed. Strength rushed into his body. He stood. He walked. He ran.
When the others rushed back in, they found the man pacing the room—completely healed.
Wigglesworth later said,
“Unbelief is the greatest enemy of faith. God cannot move where His Word is doubted.”
Faith doesn’t negotiate with weakness—it commands strength.
