Desert Springs Community Church Encouraging believers to engage with God, connect with others and live on mission

06/24/2026

What is Christian Nationalism and how should Christians think about it? This week on Resident Strangers the team discusses America’s founding, religious freedom, and why a believer’s ultimate allegiance belongs to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom, not a political party or nation.

They also explore the division politics can create, even within the Church, and the importance of having conversations marked by grace and truth. While Christians should pursue justice and righteousness, the deepest problem facing America is not political, it’s spiritual.

At the end of the day, God can use anything, even politics. But Christians must keep the main thing the main thing. And the main thing is Jesus.

We are so proud of our SMI students! It was incredible to hear them share in our services this past weekend about their week of ministry in the White Mountains. Through this trip, 27 people made decisions to follow Christ!

The students spoke honestly about the challenges of their training and the hard work it required, but they also shared how worthwhile it became when they saw the eternal impact of bringing the hope of Jesus to these communities. We are inspired by their humility and willingness to serve wherever God calls them.

Please continue praying for our students as they process all that God did during their time in the White Mountains, and pray for the individuals and families they connected with. God is still at work, and we can't wait to see how He continues to move!

Happy Father’s Day! ☕👔👏

Today, we’re celebrating all the dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, mentors, and father figures who make a difference in the lives of those around them. We’re so grateful for the ways they lead, encourage, serve, provide, and show up for their families day after day 🙌

We also recognize that Father’s Day can bring a mix of emotions. For some, today is a fun celebration. For others, it may bring grief, difficult memories, strained relationships, or reminders of loss. Wherever you find yourself, we want you to know that you are seen, valued, and cared for. We’re thankful for a God who meets us right where we are and faithfully walks with us through every season.

Happy Father’s Day, dads! We’re glad you’re here! 😎

Multigenerational • walking together • no matter the season

This is the core of who we are. A thriving body of believers isn't defined by one age group or stage of life. One of the beautiful realities of following Christ is that His family spans generations.

Whether you've walked with the Lord since you were four years old, came to know Him at seventy-two, or met Him somewhere in between, your story matters and your faith journey has value within the body of Christ.

God designed His Church to be a community where generations learn from, encourage, and strengthen one another. This is one of the ways we reflect the fullness of His work in our lives.

His community is a tapestry, woven together by people of different ages, experiences, and seasons, all united by His grace.

This weekend is going to be a GREAT one, and we can't wait to celebrate all that God is doing!

Our SMI students have spent the past week serving in communities throughout the White Mountains, and God has been at work in some amazing ways. They're still on the trip right now, and we are so excited to hear stories of how He moved in and through the next generation as they faithfully shared His love. Join us as we worship together and celebrate all that God has done this week!

We'll also be celebrating all of the incredible dads and father figures in our lives. Be sure to stop by the photo booth this weekend, grab a bag of delicious popcorn after service, and enjoy a great weekend with your church family 🤗

SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND 😎

Summer is in full swing, and this week’s episode of What Does the Bible Say About ___? tackles a timely topic: Christian nationalism.
Steve notes that over the past decade this issue has sparked strong reactions and division, even around the term itself. Sarah shares that it’s especially personal based on her experience in a specific Christian university setting.
The conversation emphasizes that Christianity must speak across all cultures and nations, not just one political context. When the gospel becomes tied to a political ideology or adds requirements beyond faith in Jesus, it moves away from biblical truth.
Steve suggests this confusion may be contributing to the rise of the “nones,” while Rich adds that polarization and algorithm-driven thinking often make meaningful conversation difficult.
Be sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss next week’s continuation!

After months of training, preparation, and hard work, our high school students are ready for a week of ministry in Show Low and the surrounding communities. We would love for you to join us in praying for safe travels, meaningful connections, and for God to move in powerful ways throughout the week.

We’re also incredibly grateful for the leaders and volunteers who have invested their time and energy to make this trip possible!

We can’t wait to see how God works and to hear the stories that come from this week of ministry!

“Toxic masculinity” has become a common phrase in our culture but is there a better way to understand what’s really going on?

This week on Resident Strangers, the conversation on masculinity and femininity continues. Steve, Rich, and Sarah explore what the Bible actually teaches about gender roles, biblical headship, and true partnership between men and women. Steve introduces the idea of destructive exaggeration as a more accurate description of how sin twists God’s design, while the team discusses how these struggles show up in both the church and culture today.

It’s a thoughtful, balanced conversation on a topic that often creates more heat than light. Give it a listen and let us know what you think!
