This morning, Rabbi Z participated in the funeral of a Jewish woman whom he never met. She left behind no spouse, no children, and no family to arrange her burial.

Yet she was not alone.

In the end, fellow Jews came together to ensure that she received the dignity, respect, and burial that every Jewish soul deserves.

There is something profoundly moving about a community that shows up not because of what someone had, but simply because of who they were—a fellow Jew.

This afternoon, I was at the QT on Dysart Road, next to Brake Masters, after picking up my car, when I suddenly heard honking. I ignored it at first—figured it wasn’t for me. But it kept going. I turned around—and there was our dear friend Seth from Chabad, sitting in his Suburban.

After a quick chat, I said, “Do you remember what happened 13 years ago—right here in this parking lot?” That’s where we first met. He came over while I was pumping gas and asked, “What’s a rabbi doing driving a pickup truck here?” From that moment, Seth became a dear friend and supporter.

It was a powerful reminder of how Hashem places us exactly where we need to be—sometimes just to reconnect, remember, and feel grateful for the people He brings into our lives.

While visiting a family in Goodyear, I met someone who had his Bar Mitzvah in the same shul I grew up in!

Two routes that began in such proximity, intersecting once more many miles later. Not coincidental in the slightest.
