Beware: Scammers walk among us!

A "Facebook Meta infringement message" refers to a notification received on Facebook, seemingly from Meta, claiming that a user has violated their terms of service by infringing on someone else's copyright, often appearing as a message stating that a post or content on the user's page has been flagged for copyright infringement and could lead to account restrictions if not addressed; however, many of these messages are scams designed to trick users into clicking malicious links or giving away personal information.

Another day of grading. I am always amazed and humbled by the work of my students as they share their hearts and fresh ideas in their journey of helping people heal from traumas, abuse, and neglect. Reading their papers is an honor of the highest sort.

The main requirement in learning to study the Bible inductively is the willingness to slow down and really look at what the Scripture is saying. That may not sound too difficult, but in times like ours, it is probably the most difficult part of the entire process. And to be honest, my friend, don’t you sometimes wonder if our busyness—even for God—isn’t often what’s keeping us from being what God wants us to be? Inductive Bible study uses the Bible itself as the primary source of information about the Bible.

Fall is here. Fall reminds me that I need to stop and count my accomplishments for the year and the potential of the next year. Next month I pick up another class from a Bible school.

The way of trust is a movement into obscurity, into the undefined, into ambiguity, not into some predetermined, clearly delineated plan for the future. The next step discloses itself only out of a discernment of God acting in the desert of the present moment. The reality of naked trust is the life of the pilgrim who leaves what is nailed down, obvious, and secure, and walks into the unknown without any rational explanation to justify the decision or guarantee the future. Why? Because God has signaled the movement and offered it his presence and his promise.

I gotta wonder about how a male-only ministry is justified. Recently, the Southern Baptists again chose to keep the SBC a boys club, thus continuing to reduce women to subservient roles. This decision forced even Saddleback, a highly influential church that has helped many across many denominations, out of the club.

On the back of this, the United Methodist Church produced a video in which male pastors read comments made to female pastors. UMC is a denomination that allows and promotes female pastors. Watch their faces and listen to the bias of the comments they read and their responses. If you were a male pastor and these things were said to you (within your gender wheelhouse, of course), what would be your options?
