Prelude
Welcome and Announcements

Call to Worship
L: God calls us to follow.
C: We will go where God leads us.
L: The journey requires sacrifice.
C: We will trust in our God.
L: The journey leads through pain to joy.
C: Thanks be to God.

Confession and Forgiveness
P: We confess our sins before God and one another.
Pause for silence and reflection.
P: Merciful God,
C: We confess to you and to one another that we have fallen short in our commitment to you and our neighbors. We have neglected the immigrant, the outcast, and those suffering poverty or oppression in our communities and around the world. We have failed to see you in the faces of our neighbors. Open our eyes, our minds, and our hearts to receive all who seek only to live peacefully with us. Make us to have the willingness of Ruth, the compassion of Boaz, and the courage of Esther, for the sake of Jesus Christ whose ministry and death fully embodied these principles.
P: Our God, whose hand created all that is, and whose heart is for all that God created, reaches out to you with mercy and grace and calls you beloved. Know that your sins are forgiven, and that God empowers each of you to grow closer to God’s will for you each day. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen.

Opening Hymn: “Day by Day” ELW #790

L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C: And also with you.

Prayer of the Day
L: Almighty Creator and ever-living God,
C: We worship your glory, eternal Three-in-One, and we praise your power, majestic One-in-Three. Keep us steadfast in this faith, defend us in all adversity, and bring us at last into your presence, where you live in endless joy and love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

WORD
Focus Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’

Prelude
Welcome and Announcements Larry Prange
Call to Worship
L: Rejoice in the Lord always!
C: Again, I will say, rejoice!
L: Do not worry about anything,
C: But in everything by prayer with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
L: And the peace of God, which passes all understanding,
C: Will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Confession and Forgiveness
P: We confess our sins before God and one another.
Pause for silence and reflection.
P: Merciful God,
C: Give us the willingness to be honest with ourselves, with one another, and with you about the ways in which we have caused harm in this world. Give us the openness to see where our actions or failures to act have led to pain in those closest to us and in those far away. Do not let us sink further into self harm through self-blame and hatred, but give us the courage to set right our wrongs, and to return to you again and again for forgiveness.
P: The risen God has raised you to newness of life in Jesus’ name. You are in Christ a new creation, and God forgives you every wrong. Celebrate with all of creation a world redeemed, and lavish the love you have received on all that is. Amen.

Opening Hymn: “Holy Spirit, Truth Divine" ELW #398

L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
C: And also with you.

Kyrie ELWp. #138
Hymn of Praise: “This is the feast…” ELWp. 140

Prayer of the Day
L: Holy Spirit,
C: You alone are the source of all wisdom and understanding. By your guidance, open our minds to learn from our neighbors of every language and culture around the world, that in so doing we might find you everywhere we look, and treat all of creation with the same lovingkindness we would want to receive ourselves. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1-21
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.2 And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. 5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. 6 And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each. 7 Amazed and astonished, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” 12 All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13 But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.” 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, “Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. 15 Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. 16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 ‘In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. 18 Even upon my slaves, both men and women, in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will show portents in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and smoky mist. 20 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day. 21 Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”
