Today is our 10 year anniversary celebration. There is going to be catered BBQ, roasted sweet potatoes, sauteed green beans, cornbread, mac and cheese; and we will finish it off with some anniversary cake. There may also be a special gift for those in attendance.

It is hard to believe that CCG has been around for 10 years. It seems like just yesterday that we held our first service in the Parks and Recreation Gymnasium of 522. It has been an amazing ride thus far with lots of unexpected turns and blessings. I am excited about what the Lord has for us in our next 10 years.

We are going to be taking a break from the Gospel of Matthew this morning and instead we will be looking at the 4th chapter in the Book of Joshua.

In our text this morning, we are going to see the Israelites miraculously crossing the Jordan river as they head to the Promised land. Joshua will command some elders to take stones from the bottom of the Jordan river to make a memorial of remembrance of that miraculous crossing once they reached their camp. This act of remembrance is vital and commanded of us as Christians. Remembering the love of God and His hand of protection in our lives helps us strengthen our faith and reliance on Him.

We will finish off the service by partaking of Communion together as a church family.

This morning We are going to be back in the 27th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew.

We will be looking at what true love looks like.

Our text this morning will be difficult to read. For Christians, this text is some of the most gut wrenching, painful text in all of Scripture.

In our text we will be reading about:
The final trial of Jesus before Pilate
The crowd choosing to release Barabbas instead of Jesus
Jesus's torturous scourging
Jesus being mocked and spit on by the Roman guards
Jesus being forced to carry his own cross
Simon of Cyrene assisting Jesus in carrying His cross
While the text may be painful to read, it is necessary for us to read it, and read it often, to see how great the love of The Father, and our Savior has for each and everyone of us.

It is necessary for each of us to see that our sins led Him to endure tremendous pain and suffering so that we can have eternal life. It is necessary for us to understand that He would die, so that we could live for Him.

This morning we will be finishing off the 26th Chapter in the Gospel of Matthew and starting the 27th Chapter.

We are going to be reading some familiar text as we will read about:
Peter's denial
Jesus's trial before the Sanhedrin
Judas's remorse
Judas's death
It always amazes me to see big and bad rough and rowdy fisherman Peter fearing young slave girls.

It also amazes me at the difference between Peter and Judas's response to their own betrayal of the Lord. Both were devastated by their choices. Both came face to face with the reality of human fragility and wickedness. However, Peter chose to examine his role and humbly accept the pain that came from his failure. Judas, chose the coward's way out and chose to end his life instead of sorting through the pain of his role in the arrest and crucifixion of Christ.

Peter chose hope, repentance and reliance on the mercy of the Lord. Judas chose death instead of true repentance. Judas chose despair instead of hope.

Saints, I know this world is tough. I know that we are all sinners and WILL fall short of the expectations of our Lord. Just remember we worship a God of second, third, 2000th chances. We worship a God of love, mercy and forgiveness. No matter how dark it seems there is always hope and forgiveness that can be found in Christ.

Su***de does not end pain, it just selfishly passes that pain on to others. What a wicked thing to do to those whom we may say we love. Always choose hope, because it is given to us in abundance. As long as we have breath in our lungs-the Lord has work for us to do. He can restore, heal, forgive and accept us as His children.

This morning we will have several baptisms, then we will jump back into the 26th Chapter in the Gospel of Matthew.

In our text tjis morning, we are going to see what happens after Jesus' arrest. We will start unpacking some of the 6 trials Jesus will go through before He is sent to the cross.

Most of these trials that we will be unpacking are about as legal as going 120MPH on Broad street while texting and eating a rack of ribs, blindfolded.

The religious leaders wanted Jesus gone, and they were going to do whatever they deemed necessary to make that happen.

This morning we are back in the Gospel of Matthew. We will be looking at the 26th chapter and it is action packed.

In our text this morning we are going to see:
Jesus telling the disciples that they will all fall away
Peter, once again, trying to correct Jesus
Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane
Judas betraying Jesus with a kiss
Peter swinging a sword and cutting off someone's ear
Jesus being arrested and the disciples running away
It is probably some familiar text to most, but it is such sweet text. Please invite friends, neighbors, relatives, strangers....lottie dottie everybody you meet to come and hear the most amazing true story ever told.

This morning we will be starting the 26th Chapter in the Gospel of Matthew.
Jesus has finished what is known as the "Olivet Discourse" and He is marching closer and closer to the cross.

We have a good bit of text tomorrow morning and in our text we will be looking at:
The plot to kill Jesus by the religious leaders
The betrayal of Jesus by Judas.
The anointing of Jesus for burial.
The Passover meal
The institution of The Lord's Supper
There will be a lot of scene changes and familiar text. We will finish off by taking Communion together as a family.

This morning we are going to go back to the Gospel of Matthew with high expectations of finishing all of chapter 25 tomorrow morning.

In our text, Jesus will be giving us some parables that speak of preparedness, faithfulness and judgment. These parables will not be new for most folks. We will be looking at the parables of the 10 Virgins, the Talents, and then we will close out by looking at the final judgment of the sheep and the goats.

Let us all prepare this morning and come joyful, worshipful, expectant, and ready to hear from our Lord.
