Brother George Cherian, founder of the 'Missions India' organization, addressed a Sept. 1 gathering at FUMC-Gonzales. A short video presentation about the story of Missions India was followed by his message based on the passage from Mark 7:30-37.

Through the video, the audience got an idea of God’s miraculous leading of the organization, From the organization's humble beginning with a single missionary in North India it has grown to over 540 missionaries active in 18 states across India. Their multi-faceted social programs for uplifting the lives of poor & marginalized people include: boys homes sheltering & educating poor children, old age homes for men & women, & schools teaching computer & sewing skills to empower women.

Sharing the Gospel & training missionaries are also, of course, key elements of their Mission. In a country of 1.2 billion people, Christians form a minority & are facing many challenges. Brother George asked for prayers for the Mission's efforts.

Missions India is active in seventeen states across India, sharing the Gospel while also providing a variety of social and economic ministries that serve the poor and marginalized.

Brother George looks forward to visiting with friends and supporters of Missions India in our congregation, as well as anyone who would like to learn more about the ministry and its work.

Our food pantry ladies sure have a passion for what they do for our community. The church Education building had an electrical outage in part of the building but they still opened up and sat in the dark with no air conditioning waiting to serve those who came by to get food and other supplies. We are blessed to have such dedicated people in our church family.

The United Women in Faith held their annual Ladies Tea on Saturday, August 22, 2026. We had 62 attend counting our 5 waiters and our photographer. The table settings were lovely and everyone received a welcome bag as they entered. Many of the refreshments were provided by the ladies who attended. For our program a video was shown of our missions and activities from 2025 through the present time. The end of the video had a part to remember the ladies we have lost recently.

It was wonderful having so many young girls this year. As you will see in the pics they had the best time interacting with each other, dressing up in the photo area with the props and acting out having tea together after they had the real experience at the tables. Thanks to all the many volunteers who helped this year. If you have any pics from the tea please share them in the comments. Our awesome photographer, Tom Hertwig will get his photos to us after he edits and goes through the many he took.
This is our kickoff to our new year in UWF. At the tea we collected some “Tips” for our future mission work. We are blessed to have such an active UWF group who want to serve and support others in our community and beyond.
