Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Brother Knight,

Join brother Knights in prayer as the United States turns 250!

Leading up to America’s 250th anniversary this summer, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. All American Knights and their families are encouraged to participate.

You’re invited to join us in a novena — nine days of prayer — from June 3-11, concluding with the consecration of the country on the eve of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart.

Thousands have already signed up to receive each day’s prayers in their inbox. Sign up to receive yours!

Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly is also encouraging all Knights to enthrone an image of the Sacred Heart in their home — a simple act of devotion that centers us on the heart of Jesus. You can find everything you need for an enthronement at the Catholic Information Service website, shopcatholicinfo.com.

We look forward to joining you in prayer!

Fraternally,
Knights of Columbus

“Peace be with you.” — John 20:19

In today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus appears to His disciples, who are gathered in fear behind locked doors. He speaks peace into their anxiety, shows them His wounds, and breathes the Holy Spirit upon them.

From that moment, their fear is transformed into mission. They are sent to forgive, to heal, and to share the mercy they have received.

Christ comes to us in the same way, entering our fears, offering His peace, and sending us out with His Spirit.

🙏 Lord, fill us with Your peace, and make us instruments of Your mercy in the world.

Today the Church observes the memorial of the Mexican martyrs, among them six priests who were members of the Knights of Columbus. When the Cristero War broke out 100 years ago, Catholics in Mexico faced increasing persecution and even martyrdom at the hands of the government. In the face of these difficulties, the Knights of Columbus mounted an international campaign to defend the rights of the Church, raising $1 million for a campaign to educate the public and assist those affected.

Pope Pius XI explicitly recognized the Order’s role in his encyclical Iniquis Afflictisque, published Nov. 18, 1926, in response to the persecution in Mexico: “First of all we mention the Knights of Columbus … made up of active and industrious members who, because of their practical lives and open profession of the Faith, as well as by their zeal in assisting the Church, have brought great honor upon themselves.”

Memorial Day Flag Display

Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday of May, commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service. In observance of Memorial Day, fly the United States flag at half staff from sunrise until NOON, then raise it to full height from noon to sunset.

The American flag is flown at half-staff on Memorial Day until noon as a visible sign of mourning and remembrance for the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces. This tradition is rooted in the holiday's history as a day dedicated to honoring and remembering the fallen. Raising the flag to full staff at noon symbolizes the nation's resolve to continue fighting for liberty and to keep the memory of those who died in service alive.

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then slowly lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.
