Yesterday, we had the pleasure of participating in a beautiful interfaith gathering hosted by Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara.

We sincerely appreciate Trinity Episcopal Church for their warm invitation to the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara (ISSB) and to Imam Wael Hegazy to share a reflection on the life and lessons of Prophet Musa (Moses), a prophet deeply honored in both Islam and Christianity.

The talk was followed by a wonderful community brunch, jointly sponsored by Trinity Episcopal Church and the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara. Members of both communities gathered together in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual respect, and shared humanity. It was a meaningful opportunity to build bridges, strengthen relationships, and reaffirm our commitment to making Santa Barbara a welcoming and compassionate home for everyone.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Trinity Episcopal Church for their gracious hospitality, to all the organizers from both communities whose dedication made this event possible, and to everyone from the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara who attended and contributed to its success through their presence and engagement.

Together, through dialogue, friendship, and service, we continue to build a stronger and more united Santa Barbara.

As-salamu alaykum ISSB community,

Yesterday, we were blessed to gather together at the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara (ISSB) to celebrate the beautiful day of Eid Ul Adha with our community. The day began with Eid prayer and khutbah delivered by Imam Wael Hegazy, reflecting on the meanings of sacrifice, gratitude, unity, and devotion to Allah سبحانه وتعالى.

We were also honored by heartfelt words from ISSB President Brother Mansoor, who reminded us of the importance of community, compassion, and continuing to build a strong and welcoming environment for everyone at ISSB.

After the prayer and talks, we concluded the celebration with a wonderful community brunch, where families, friends, and community members congratulated one another and shared the joy of Eid together.

Jazakum Allahu khayran to everyone who attended, volunteered, prepared food, organized the event, and helped make this Eid gathering beautiful and memorable for our community.

May Allah make these days days of joy, happiness, mercy, blessings, and barakah for all of you and your families. Eid Mubarak once again from ISSB!

As-salamu alaykum ISSB community,

Today was the Award Ceremony Day for the Sunday School students across all three levels: Iqra, Elementary, and Advanced.

We concluded the final class of this quarter and officially began the summer vacation for our Sunday School program. We also celebrated the success and achievements of our students by presenting them with certificates in recognition of their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of ISSB President Brother Mansoor, ISSB Board Member Dr. Saida Hamdani, the ISSB Sunday School teachers, Imam Wael, Sister Amintou, and Sister Walaa, along with many parents and family members of the students.

The day was filled with beautiful Qur’an recitation, du‘aa, heartfelt words of appreciation from the students, and inspiring speeches by Dr. Saida Hamdani and Brother Mansoor. It was a joyful and emotional gathering that reflected the spirit of learning, community, and gratitude.

May Allah continue to bless and strengthen the ISSB community, allow it to grow and flourish, and make these young students among the righteous and beneficial members of the Ummah. Ameen.

As-salamu alaykum dear community,

While we continue to grieve the tragic incident at the Islamic Center in San Diego and mourn the innocent lives affected, our hearts have also been deeply touched by the overwhelming solidarity shown today by our neighbors and friends from the interfaith community here in Santa Barbara.

Religious leaders and community members from Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, and many other faith communities came to stand beside us, offer condolences, prayers, and sincere words of compassion. Their presence reminded us that even in moments of pain and darkness, the highest values of humanity, mercy, and unity still shine brightly.

On behalf of the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every pastor, rabbi, priest, monk, chaplain, and community member who stood with us today. Your kindness has brought comfort to our grieving hearts and strengthened the bonds of peace and mutual respect among our communities.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

“Repel evil with what is better; then the one between whom and you there was enmity will become as though he were a devoted friend.”
(Surat Fussilat 41:34)

And the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Show mercy to those on earth and the One above the heavens will show mercy to you.”
(Tirmidhi)

May God bless all our communities, protect@ every house of worship, and allow us all to live together in peace, dignity, and compassion.
