We help them discover freedom from gangs, substance abuse, homelessness, violence and loneliness. Vision Statement:
We minister as positive role models to a community of young people transitioning out of gangs, incarceration, drug and alcohol use, homelessness and hopelessness. We are mentoring each individual in basic living skills as he/she is given the opportunity to enter into a brand new life
and identity in Jesus Christ. History
History:
The JUVY project was established 30 years ago in response to the call of God to become a voice that speaks into the lives of troubled youth. They are lost in confusion, trapped in their mind-sets and they think there is no way out. Their families are broken, but gangs will accept them. Drugs and alcohol will numb them. The vicious cycle continues, until now. Doing nothing is not an option. There is a moral question to be addressed, as well. What to Do?:
Unfortunately, incarceration is on the rise and many youth are being sentenced for life and placed in adult prisons. According to a draft report by the Select Sub-Committee on the Status of Boys and Men of Color, the state of California is spending $200,000 per year per juvenile inmate, costing the state billions of dollars overall. We see this as a growing concern for our communities. Here’s what we are doing:
We are going into Juvenile Detention Centers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a message of hope. Upon release, many are desperate for change and pleading for help. As part of the non-profit Global Orphan Destiny Project, The JUVY Project Training Center will provide the facility in which we continue building the Father-Son relationships on a strong foundation of functional family and moral values. OUR DREAM
We dream of a place they can call their refuge, neutralizing any gang affiliation; a center for healing, or reorientation training, schooling / education scholarships, jobs, housing, family, and more. A gathering place where they can become encouraged and healed. We want them to learn basic living skills in a healthy environment, while being empowered by the Holy Spirit to live the life their Heavenly Father has planned for them. Goals:
To provide a building in an industrial setting to serve as:
