As the mission of Church Planting and Renewal, our focus remains on helping with the establishment of new, healthy OFWB congregations, as well as walking alongside tenured and matured congregations as they seek to work for God's Kingdom in their own communities.
As this work matures, we continue to lay the foundation upon which we might see a healthy harvest -- even if that mature harvest comes after our time here on earth is completed. And honestly, that may be one of the hardest conversations we have in our own places and spaces of worship and Christian formation -- we seek to build that which we may never fully realize...
..and that mirrors an historical, and biblical model.
Take Moses, for example, a leader of God's people for decades. The one whose presence and posture were used by God to free an enslaved people -- Israel -- and to move them to a new home in that Cannan land. As a leader, he knew that he could take the people as far as they could go in his lifetime, but that even afterwards, they still had more to do. In Deuteronomy 31, Moses says his farewell to the people -- and then tells them the work is not done. In fact, he encourages them to be brave, remember God's teaching, and to follow those who will lead them next...to a land that they have yet to own.
What if, in our own spaces, we saw ourselves like Moses - leading those in our spaces of influence as far as God is willing to allow us - and then trusting, charging, and encouraging them to keep going beyond what we could see possible? And in seeing ourselves like this, we lived in such a way that allows the legacy God has granted us, to be that foundation upon which the Kingdom will continue to be built?
At Church Planting and Renewal, 2026 will be a special year -- it will be a year of building for the Kingdom of God. Building of new Bodies of Christ, building of new congregational visions, building of new teams and leaders, and building new pathways in the Kingdom - for the Kingdom - and by the King of that Kingdom - Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So, will you pray with us? Will you partner with us? And will you begin to ask, "What if our call is to be Moses, looking ahead to what God can do, and using that which God has trusted us with for building that future - for building that Kingdom?"
Thank you all for your support in this year, and we look forward to what comes in the year ahead!
