Our History
The Diocesan vision to build a Roman Catholic Church and School in Goddard, KS began in the late 1990's, and was put into action on August 3, 1998 when the Holy Spirit Catholic Church held its first mass in the Goddard High School Auditorium. This marked the start of a grace filled journey towards forming students in the name of Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit Catholic School openin
g its doors on August 16, 2002. The school opened offering only a half-day Kindergarten and a combined first and second grade classroom, and along with a meek enrollment of 17 students came a prayerful goal of adding an additional grade annually. By the fall of 2009 not only were there enough students to began splitting classrooms, but the school was blessed with the opportunity to provide a faith filled Preschool for 3 and 4 year old children. Today the Holy Spirit Catholic School is thriving in the Lord's glory with a preschool enrollment of over 60 students and a K-8 enrollment of over 90 students. The school is now able to offer separate classrooms for preschool through 8th and remains faithful in looking to the Lord for its goals towards growth. The Catholic schools in the diocese of Wichita are recognized as a leader in high standards, innovation, ongoing staff development, and especially for the stewardship way of life. Families involved with the school demonstrate their stewardship through various means. The Holy Spirit Catholic School strives always toward a higher level of commitment from our students, parents, and staff to build this community of faith.
