📖 Exodus Chapter 15 – Song of Deliverance & Bitter Water Made Sweet
🔹 1. The Song of Moses (15:1–21)

After crossing the Red Sea, Moses and the Israelites respond with worship.

They praise God for victory over Pharaoh’s army
God is described as:
Strength
Salvation
A warrior
Key theme: God fights for His people

Important moment:
Miriam (Moses’ sister) leads the women with tambourines and dancing in celebration.

🔹 2. Bitter Water at Marah (15:22–27)
The Israelites travel 3 days without water
They find water at Marah, but it is bitter and undrinkable
The people complain against Moses

God’s response:

God shows Moses a tree
Moses throws it into the water → it becomes drinkable

Key lesson:

God can turn bitter situations into something good
This is also a test of obedience and trust

God’s promise:

If they obey Him, He will keep them from diseases (He reveals Himself as healer)

📖 Exodus Chapter 16 – Manna and Quail
🔹 1. Complaining in the Wilderness (16:1–3)
The Israelites begin complaining again
They say they had better food in Egypt
They fear starvation

Key issue:
They quickly forget God’s past deliverance

🔹 2. God Provides Manna and Quail (16:4–21)

God’s provision:

Manna (bread from heaven) appears each morning
Quail come in the evening for meat

Instructions:

Gather only what is needed for each day
Do not store it overnight (except before Sabbath)

Meaning of Manna:

“What is it?” (they had never seen it before)
🔹 3. The Sabbath Principle (16:22–30)
On the 6th day, gather double portion
No manna falls on the 7th day (Sabbath)
This teaches:
Trust in God’s provision
Obedience to His timing
🔹 4. Reminder for Future Generations (16:31–36)
Manna described as:
White like coriander seed
Taste like wafers with honey
God commands that manna be kept as a testimony
Israelites eat manna for 40 years
✨ Key Themes from Exodus 15–16
1. God is Worthy of Praise
After victory, worship should follow
2. Human Nature: Quick to Forget
Even after miracles, people complain
3. God Provides Daily
Not always in excess—but always enough
4. Testing Builds Trust
God allows situations to grow faith
5. Obedience Matters
Blessings are connected to listening and following God

FRIDAY 4-3-2026 – The Cross (Good Friday)
Today we remember the ultimate sacrifice.
✝️ The cross was not the end—it was the beginning of hope.
❤️ Because of Him, we have forgiveness and new life.

04/01/2026

Join us tonight at 7pm as we deep dive into the book of Exodus with chapters 13 and 14. Not familiar with the chapters, that ok. Here is a breakdown.
📖 Exodus Chapter 13 – Consecration & Guidance
🔹 1. The Firstborn Belong to God (13:1–16)
Key Idea:

God commands Israel to set apart every firstborn male—both human and animal.

Why this matters:
It directly connects to the Passover in Exodus 12
The firstborn were spared during the final plague → now they belong to God
Spiritual Meaning:
Redemption principle: A life spared by God must be dedicated back to Him
Clean animals = sacrificed
Unclean animals (like donkeys) = redeemed with a lamb or killed
Firstborn sons = redeemed

👉 This points forward to:

Substitutionary sacrifice (later fulfilled in Jesus Christ)
Teaching Point:

God doesn’t just rescue people—He claims relationship and ownership after deliverance.

🔹 2. The Feast of Unleavened Bread (13:3–10)
Command:

Israel must remember their deliverance yearly.

Symbolism:
No yeast (leaven) = no corruption, no delay
Represents:
Urgency (they left Egypt quickly)
Purity (removal of sin)
Application:
Teach future generations
Make God’s deliverance a visible, repeated story

👉 Verse emphasis:

“It shall be as a sign… and a memorial”

Teaching Point:

Faith is not meant to be forgotten—it must be rehearsed.

🔹 3. God Leads Them—But Not the Easy Way (13:17–18)
Important Detail:

God does NOT take them the shortest route.

Why?

The Philistine route = quicker but dangerous
Israel isn’t ready for war
Instead:

God leads them toward the Red Sea

👉 Key Lesson:
God’s guidance is based on:

What you can handle, not what is fastest
🔹 4. Joseph’s Bones (13:19)
Moses carries the bones of Joseph
This fulfills Joseph’s request in Genesis
Meaning:
God keeps promises—even after generations
Faith spans time
🔹 5. Pillar of Cloud & Fire (13:20–22)
God’s Presence:
Cloud by day ☁️
Fire by night 🔥
Purpose:
Guidance
Protection
Visibility
Teaching Point:

God doesn’t just give directions—He goes with His people.

🌊 Exodus Chapter 14 – The Red Sea Crossing
🔹 1. God Leads Them Into a Trap (14:1–4)

God tells Israel to camp in a place that looks strategically terrible:

Mountains on both sides
Sea in front
Egypt behind
Why?

“I will gain glory through Pharaoh…”

👉 This is intentional.

Teaching Point:

Sometimes God leads you into situations where:

Escape seems impossible
So His power becomes undeniable
🔹 2. Pharaoh Changes His Mind (14:5–9)
Pharaoh regrets letting Israel go
Sends his army (600+ chariots)
Spiritual Reality:

Deliverance often triggers opposition after breakthrough

🔹 3. Fear vs Faith (14:10–14)

Israel panics:

“It would have been better to serve Egypt…”

Moses’ Response:

“Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord”

Breakdown:
Fear looks backward (slavery)
Faith looks forward (promise)
Teaching Point:

When pressure hits, people often want to return to what God delivered them from.

🔹 4. God Moves Behind Them (14:19–20)

The pillar shifts:

Moves from front → behind them
Becomes:
Light for Israel
Darkness for Egypt
Meaning:

God is both:

Guide
Protector
🔹 5. The Red Sea Parts (14:21–22)
Miracle:
Moses stretches out his hand
Sea splits
Dry ground appears
This is one of the most famous events in the Bible:

👉 Parting of the Red Sea

Key Detail:
Not mud—dry land
🔹 6. Egypt Pursues (14:23–28)
Egyptians follow into the sea
God disrupts them:
Wheels fall off
Confusion

Then:

Waters return
Army destroyed
Teaching Point:

What God opens for you, your enemy cannot survive in.

🔹 7. Final Result (14:29–31)
Israel safely crosses
Egypt defeated
People:
Fear the Lord
Believe in Him and Moses
