HUNGER ACTION MONTH

September is Hunger Action Month and we are gearing up to raise awareness of food insecurity locally during this dedicated time when we call on everyone to act And show there love.

• 1 in 7 People struggles with hunger across the greater Peninsula.

• Close to 62,000 (11.5%) individuals experience food insecurity in our communities.

• Close to 20,000 (17.3%) are children will you show your kindness and share your love to those who need our help.

A lot of you reading my post now have never been hungry, or been in a place where you don’t know where your next meal would come from. For those who do and the Lord has blessed you why not be a blessing to someone else.

Our Good Samaritan Helping Hands Ministry provides food for 100-150 people every Wednesday at our food pantry. And another 50 or so during the week with our emergency food pantry.

We need your help during action hunger month, to continue helping our neighbors in need.

We are having a Food Drive all month long you can drop your items off every Wednesday from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 7749 Dutton Road Gloucester Virginians. Or you can call the church if you want someone to pick up your donations. 804-694-8225. You can also go to our website www.gleaningbaptictchurch.com and go to our ministry page and hit the donation. I hope we can count on you to help. Bring Hope and show Love to a child in need!!! Don’t just talk about it, just do it.

Helping others seems to be a little hard sometimes, but when you think of the countless times somebody helped you it’s easy. Would you consider helping our neighbors who are food insecure. When you give to our Good Samaritan Ministry it helps us provide nourishing meals to children and young mothers, seniors and veterans. It allows us to place food in the homes of children on weekends.

Winter months can be difficult for families in need who are still experiencing job losses, higher utility bills, and uncertainty. I hope we can come together and show our love for humanity with compassion in these difficult times. No amount is too small.

Every contribution received helps provide hearty meals heart-healthy fruits and vegetables to children, seniors and veterans.

‘Tis the season to be a blessing,

What a year this has been! With COVID-19 keeping families apart, and people out of jobs, children home from school more, times have been hard.

Our Good Samaritan Ministry at Gleaning Baptist church has been open every week since March trying to make a difference in our community and in the lives of those who find it hard to have hope, with Healthy food and a hopeful heart.

We certainly witnessed increased need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we also saw increased generosity from our compassionate community.

We work hard to ensure that children can go to bed full and satisfied, that seniors do not have to choose between food and medicine, and that families and veterans have the food they need to live a healthy lifestyle.

But we cannot do it alone. We need your help, our friends,, and family..
Your help makes our work possible, it will put smiles on the faces of those who desperately need our help this holiday season.

The holiday season is a time of togetherness, of family, of love, and of celebration.

This pandemic has put a strain on everyone in many ways, but there are still people whom the Lord has blessed and are able to be a blessing to others.

Maybe you have never went to bed hungry, or went to school hungry, or didn’t know where your next meal would come from, but thousands of children, seniors, single moms, and veterans do!!!

This is your opportunity to bring Hope back to many, and let them see the love of Jesus in your heart, no amount is too small. I repeat no amount is too small.

We buy food at .19 cents a pound from the Virginia Peninsula food bank and give it out to those in need.

Gleaning Baptist holds ‘Operation Fill that Truck’ food drive throughout May

Gleaning Baptist Church’s food pantry.

The Gloucester church is holding its “Operation Fill the Truck” food drive throughout the month.

Gleaning Baptist Church, Gloucester, is holding “Operation Fill the Truck,” a food drive throughout May. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the church’s Good Samaritan Ministry has been offering a drive-thru food pick-up at the church every Wednesday from noon-2 p.m.

They have been providing food for the community and anyone else who may be in need. The church has been able to feed 100-165 families each week. This is our last week of the drive so help us

Good evening Facebook friends and family, pray all is well.
Wanted to share some information with you. Since COVID 19 our church Good Samaritan Ministry doors have been open every Wednesday from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. Providing food for the community, and all that are in need.. It has been challenging but God makes away.
As we prepare for our disturbition on tomorrow I realize that we have enough food in our inventory to last for about three more weeks.
We have been feeding about 100 to 165 families for the last 7 weeks. Even though we are in a crisis right now with COVID 19 GOD'S work still goes on.
There are many of you who will never know what it's like not knowing where your next meal will come from even in this crisis, because God has blessed you...
I NEED the HELP of those who God has blessed, that are in a position to be a blessing to others who are out of work, out of school, out of money and most of all out of hope.
We are having a drive though nonparshable food drive tomorrow from 10am to 4pm in our church parking lot 7749 Dutton road Gloucester Virginis 2306.

Make this new year, Happy, Healthy, and Hopeful

Dear friends,

Christmas is gone, and the new year is almost here, I hope you will make up in your mind to give the gift of love this year, The word says faith, Hope and Love but the greatest of these is love.

We work hard all year to help ensure that children don’t go to bed hungry, but can go to bed full and satisfied, that seniors do not have to choose between food and medicine, and that working families and veterans have the food they need to live a healthy lifestyle.
