Memorial Day is more than the cookouts, the pool parties, the beach and boat days. It’s more than the weekend for graduations and a marker for the end of the school year for some. It’s more than the retail promotions and summer must-haves.

It’s about our fallen soldiers who fought and lost their lives for our country. Through all the years, all the wars, all the conflicts; men and women, drafted into service without choice and those who willingly chose a life of service. Today is the day to remember those whose service has saved and shaped this country, who did not make it back home. Let’s not forget their sacrifice amidst our holiday get-togethers.

If you are of the praying mind today, let’s join in praying for the fallen soldiers of our country, past and present, and their families who have had and will have to live without them.

Rev. Cliff Hersey is joining us again this Sunday, May 24th for our 10:30am worship service. His sermon, ‘What Does All of this Mean?’ reminds us “how the Holy Spirit continues to move among us today-bringing new life, hope, and courage.” The corresponding Scriptures are Acts 2:1-12 & John 20:19-23.

Though it is Memorial Day Weekend, we hope you’ll join us if you are still around tomorrow!

You are invited to worship with us tomorrow morning at 10:30am. It is the 1st Sunday of May which means it’s also a Communion Sunday and we have brunch following the service in the vestry. Our Monday night book study group has a special brunch planned for you and we hope you can stay to fellowship with us!

Pastor Karen will be preaching this Sunday from Psalm 23 & John 10:1-10. Her sermon, “Listening for the Shepherd’s Voice,” draws on Christ as our good shepherd who cares for us. We hope you can join us!

Tomorrow morning at 10:30am, we gather for our Sunday Worship Service. Rich Weisenbach preaches for us again- if you haven’t heard him in the past, you should hear him tomorrow! His sermon draws upon scripture in Jeremiah 17: 5-8 and John 15: 1-8 and it titled “What Jesus Said About Himself.” Jesus often spoke using parables, about warnings, about God and about how to treat others. But as we’ll find out from Rich in his sermon, what does Jesus say about himself?

After the service, our congregation has its annual meeting. Though it is heavily loaded with information and is accompanied by member voting when applicable, you are welcome to stay for it as well. If you do, please bring your own lunch (it tends to be long!).

Her sermon this week, titled “A Soul’s Reflection: Who Do You Say I am?,” focuses on the disciples who are traveling the road to Emaus after Jesus’s death. The accompanying scripture passages include Isaiah 50:4-9 & Mark 8:27-30. We hope you’ll join us for worship and directly after, we have coffee hour in the vestry if you’d like to stay for some fellowship.

Spring is finally here! Have you noticed the daffodils popping up? Or any buds starting to form on trees? We have!

Thank you to all who participated and joined us for our Lenten Mornings devotional times and all the events during Holy Week last week, as well as our Easter celebrations. We saw many new faces and we were so happy you came! Though those Lent/Easter events are finished until next year, we’ve still got lots happening and want you to know you are still welcome!

Tomorrow, April 12th, we have our Sunday Worship Service at the regularly scheduled 10:30am. Val Gin will be preaching for us with her sermon, “I Want to Know Him.” If that sounds like something you want too, our doors are open and there’s plenty of room.
