This week, our Achen had the honor of offering the invocation at the Town Board Meeting of the Town of Oyster Bay, New York.
During the meeting, Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino warmly recognized St. Andrew Malankara Orthodox Church and its new, yet already active, presence in Glenwood Landing and the Town of Oyster Bay.
For our parish, this was a particularly meaningful moment. St. Andrew Malankara Orthodox Church is proud to call the Town of Oyster Bay home. As we continue to establish our roots in Glenwood Landing, we look forward to opportunities in being an active part of the wider Town by serving our neighbors, supporting our community, building friendships, and witnessing to our Orthodox Christian faith through lives of service and love.
Oyster Bay has such a remarkable history that traces back to 1653 and later became home to President Theodore Roosevelt, whose Sagamore Hill National Historic Site served as the “Summer White House” from 1902–1908. Today, St. Andrew is honored to add a new chapter to that long and diverse story as the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church establishes its presence here.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Supervisor Saladino, the members of the Town Board, and the Town of Oyster Bay for their gracious welcome and for the opportunity to begin the meeting in prayer.
May God continue to bless the Town of Oyster Bay, and all who call it home, as St. Andrew Malankara Orthodox Church proudly puts down its roots and seeks to serve this community for generations to come.
