The Ave Maria Council 4456 Knights of Columbus, members of the Bishop Hillinger Assembly, are co-sponsoring an Oktoberfest, with Schiller Park American Legion Post #104. All proceeds help to support students with developmental disabilities in the Leyden Township Community.

Obituary:

George Pontarelli

1929 - 2026
George Pontarelli, 96, of Chicago passed away on July 21, 2026. Beloved husband for 71 years to the late Jean, nee McKee. Father George "Mickey" (Sue), Bob (Richard) and Peggy.

George was a long-time member of Knights of Columbus.

Final Arrangements:
Visitation: Friday, July 24th from 4-7pm
at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home.

Funeral: Saturday, July 25th at 9:30am from the funeral home to Queen of All Saints Basilica for a Mass at 10am.
Private interment.

Memorial donations in George's name can be made to his favorite charity;
Boys Town, PO Box 8000,
Boys Town, NE 68010 or to
Chicago Police Chaplins Ministry,
1140 W Jackson, Chicago 60607.

Brothers, Our hearts are heavy as
we have been informed that one of our Assembly members, from Fr. Ryan Council, George A. Pontarelli passed away.

George was 96 years old, a Knight for 53 years and a Sir Knight for 29 years.

At this time, arrangements are pending.

The Bishop Hillinger Assembly has an opening for Faithful Friar.

We have been without a Friar (Chaplain) since the beginning of the last fraternal year.

The Bishop Hillinger Assembly is seeking the help of an inspiring spiritual leader to provide prayers and guidance to this well established Assembly.

Assembly Meetings on first & third. Mondays of each month September-June
at St. John Brebeuf, Niles, IL. 7:30pm

Help our Assembly start our Fraternal Year on a spiritual high note. 🙏
