Happy Saturday!
Planning on worshiping tomorrow at Carmel? Consider reading the Gospel lesson in advance. The message title is "Pray Boldly, and with Eyes Open." Here is the lesson from Matthew:
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not take a road leading to gentiles, and do not enter a Samaritan town, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick; raise the dead; cleanse those with a skin disease; cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.

The Carmel faithful will celebrate graduates during worship tomorrow. Come also for a pot luck luncheon following worship.

Carmel Youth Ministry kids performed skits from the book of Exodus for their families and church members last week. All enjoyed delicious soups, salads, bread, and dessert at the May Soup Group, provided by Congregational Life.

A team of 7 hard working Carmel volunteers unloaded quantities of donated food for the Willow Grove Baptist Food Pantry on the May 9 Stamp Out Hunger Day at the Fort Washington Post Office. Carmel"s Mission Commission organizes monthly volunteers for food distribution nights at the WG Food Pantry which benefit area families with food needs. Sign up opportunities are available in the church lobby or through the office.

Sunday, May 9 was a busy day of celebration at Carmel. We celebrated Choir Recognition, Confirmation, and Mother's Day Fellowship Time by Carmel men. Congratulations on church membership for our confirmands Liam Smith and Olivia Grace Lin-Ralph. Thank you to all of Carmel's Choir members and Music Director Abigail Palmisano.

Our thanks to Carmel's Handbell Choir which opened Sunday's worship service with Pachelbel's Timeless Canon in their last time before summer. Also to Co-director Heather Coelho and Assistant David Campbell.
