Join us in welcoming back to South Georgia our new executive leaders, Dr. M. Thomas and LaQuita Propes!

Dr. Propes has been appointed as Administrative Bishop today at the 80th International General Assembly in Orlando. He returns to his home state with his wife, LaQuita, who will serve as the new Women's Ministries Director.

The Propes succeed Dr. Tony and Kathy Cooper, with Dr. Cooper accepting a new appointment as President and CEO of the Church of God Foundation after two years in South Georgia.

A South Georgia native and a fourth generation Church of God member, Dr. Propes gave his heart to the Lord at the tender age of five. He began his ministry in 1974, receiving his ordination in 1984.

Propes just completed a four-year term as General Director of Church of God World Missions. He has served in a wide variety of ministry, from an esteemed seat on the International Executive Committee to overseer assignments including the Great Lakes Region, Northern Ohio and South Carolina.

But it all began in South Georgia, where his pastorates included the Jesup Church of God and Live Oak in Hinesville.

Dr. Propes and Sis. LaQuita have two children: Matthew Thomas and wife, Jennifer; and a daughter, Summer Joy, who went home to be with the Lord in March of 2017. They also have two grandchildren, Mark Thomas and William.

South Georgia expresses its deep love and appreciation for the Coopers, who oversaw the final construction of the Tabernacle, made significant progress on paying down its loan, and pastored the state through recovery from Hurricane Helene shortly after their arrival.
