“Thinking is not praying…” Serious food for thought!!

Oh my, nothing gets past this kid! I guess I need to do less thinking and more praying these days...

"Mom, thinking is not praying. Will you pray? The action of praying is more like life meets the position of hope toward God's care. That's prayer. Thinking tries to send mental pairings for logs to build something, but prayer says, 'God, I need something built.' See the difference? Under the nippy minutes in your head is your heart that mouths, 'Help is needed, Lord, make a way.' Or, let me put it this way, look for the pump..."

We’re loving our Armor of God series on the Praying Christian Women podcast!

The Belt of Truth is a foundational piece of armor; it’s what the Roman soldiers’ weapons hung from, particularly a short stabbing dagger used in hand-to-hand combat.

Jesus called himself the Way, the Truth, and the Life. So if Jesus himself is the foundation of our faith, then so is Truth.

Which of these three ways to use the Belt of Truth resonates with you today? Let us know in the comments!

Can I be honest, even if it’s a little embarrassing?

Talking about spiritual warfare can make me a little nervous. Sometimes I get into the frame of mind where I feel like as soon as I armor up and step into the battle, I’m going to have a big target on my back…or worse yet, my family will.

These are such lies straight from the pit! But it doesn’t mean I haven’t fallen for them.

But recently, as the podcast has forced me to study and focus on spiritual warfare, a strange thing happened…

I’m not looking back over my shoulder for evil forces coming up against me.

My prayer life has changed and I’m sensing God’s power in more profound ways as I take courageous steps in prayers of protection for my family and loved ones.

As I meditate on scripture declaring God’s bigness and experience the awe-inspiring “fear of the Lord”, the threat and even fear of the Enemy shrinks.

Fix your eyes on Jesus and his victory. On the greatness of a terrible, magnificent God whose love for you is as fierce as his wrath toward evil.

Then armor up, because we’re all in the battle whether we know it or not.

But there is nothing to fear 💗⚔️🙏🙌

When we ask Christian women about their prayer blocks, a universal complaint is distractions.

But what if, instead of fighting tooth and nail against your distractions, you were able to do “spiritual jiu-jitsu” and actually use your distractions as a springboard for a deeper, more powerful prayer life?

It’s not only possible, but if you join us on this week’s episode of the podcast, we’ll talk you through steps you can take to start today!

Happy Holy Week! On Maundy Thursday Jesus issued a command: to love one another.

How are we doing as The Church? As individuals? Let’s take a look in the mirror, even if it’s hard. Lent is a time to sit in the discomfort of hard things. It’s through this process we move through to the hope and victory of the resurrection!
