““Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 ESV
The world tells men to be strong, exerting dominance over others, while there are calls in the Bible to be meek. Meek in the world’s definition is timid, shy, or weak. But Jesus that the meek shall inherit the earth. What does meek mean Biblically?
In the Bible being meek is to display strength under control. The term often describes a person who has power, rights, or ability, but chooses to restrain and submit that power to God's will and display gentle patience with others. This is perfectly displayed in Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down his life as a sacrifice in humble obedience to His Father’s will. Jesus willingly submitted to verbal and physical abuse, ultimately leading to His death, instead of asserting His authority over all to prevent that from happening.
When we choose to lay aside our rights and desires, it allows God’s strength to be displayed in our lives Choose to follow the Lord - with all your heart, mind, and STRENGTH, today and everyday.
