Topic: "The Gift of the Magi" [Church Calendar: Advent week 2]
Explanation: The Magi or commonly referred to as the foreign kings/ dignitaries that followed the sign of the Messiah (the Star of Bethlehem) which was a sign of the true legitimate King of Israel and the Son of God.
Key Verse Focus: John 3:16 - Jesus being the greatest gift and God being the the one who gave Himself as the greatest sacrifice.
Further Study and key lesson points to cover with your kids- The Magi brought gifts to honor Jesus, the true legitimate King of Israel. We often bring our lives that we lay down in service to Jesus as our reasonable sacrifice to God. (Romans 12:1-2). Jesus was our great example of giving sacrificially (with others in mind) who with great cost to himself (as He gave His life) for the good of those around Him, leading those who believe in Eternal peace with God (which is the essence of the gospel).
Verse for the week: John 3:16 (although a very common verse, we cannot underestimate the eternal weight and significance of this principle of unparalleled love and unmatched giving that only God can give)
