Earlier this month, community member Jane Hong-Guzman hosted a Little Tokyo Historic Tour in honor of AANHPI Heritage Month! Here are a few beautiful moments from our community together. ✨

As they walked through the neighborhood, they reflected on stories that have deeply shaped both the local community and our nation’s history. From the impact of the Azusa Street Revival to the experiences surrounding Japanese American internment camps, the tour created space to remember stories of hardship, resilience, and hope. Along the way, they also explored the complexities of race relations in the U.S., the power of solidarity across cultures, and the ways love within communities can become a tangible expression of justice, healing, and unity.

In honor of Mother’s Day this past Sunday, Pastor Jen shared a powerful word on lessons she’s learning from her garden. One key reminder: soil matters. 🌱

Not every plant grows in the same environment. Pastor Jen recently bought a blueberry plant and learned that blueberries need acidic soil to thrive. It sparked the question: what is God trying to grow in you right now? Because the environment that grew you in one season may not be the environment needed for the next.

If God is growing radical faith in you, your soil may need to look different. It may need to be rooted in the truth of His Word, make space for the Holy Spirit, and remove the weeds of doubt, fear, and cynicism.

May is Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Heritage Month! 🧡✨ E58 community member Jane Hong-Guzman is hosting a special half-day historic tour of Little Tokyo on May 16th and you’re invited! This experience is open to our entire church family. Come join us as we seek peace and well-being for the city!

As you walk together through this meaningful neighborhood, Jane will guide you through stories that have shaped both the local and broader community. From the legacy of the Azusa Street Revival to the history of Japanese American internment camps, the tour will reflect on moments of hardship, resilience, and connection. You’ll also explore the complexities of race relations in the U.S., the beauty of solidarity across cultures, and how love within communities can offer real glimpses of justice and hope.

🏙️ 10 AM-1 PM: We’ll spend the morning walking through Little Tokyo together, visiting local landmarks and shops along the way.
🍽️ 1-2 PM: Afterward, we’ll break into smaller groups for lunch. Please bring money for your lunch.
