The terrain in the Copper Canyon, our area of Chihuahua, Mexico, makes it challenging to reach people who need medical attention. Traditional ground transportation is often not possible, resulting in delayed medical assistance and hindered healthcare services. That’s why our aviation support is so important! These airplanes swiftly and efficiently enable us to reach ill patients in a timely manner. It also allows for quick transport of large numbers of patients, like for our vision surgery outreach weekends. Thanks to our team of aviators, who make it possible through a partnership with UIM Aviation !

Last year, 334 women received prenatal care at the hospital! In Mexico, the indigenous population suffers twice as much maternal mortality as the non-indigenous population. Hospital Mision Tarahumara is important in supporting prenatal care and labor and delivery for the remote communities around us.

More than just a Tail Number.
The “H” in the number stands for “hospital,” the “T” stands for “Tarahumara,” and “23” is the year that it began flying in Mexico.
The terrain in this area of Mexico makes it challenging to reach people who need medical attention. Mexico Medical Missions has a Carbon Cub, and pilots from UIM Aviation operate it. This plane transports patients to and from our hospital and can land on very short runways. It saves critical time in patient care and enables us to reach more patients during our extensive surgical outreach efforts. We so grateful for this plane and our favorite pilots!
