🌱 How does the Kingdom of God grow? Sometimes, quietly. Sometimes, unexpectedly. 🌱

This Sunday at 10:30 AM, join us at ICUMC as Christian Schmidt explores Jesus’ powerful parable in Mark 4:26–29, where a farmer scatters seed and watches it grow in ways he cannot fully understand. The message is a reminder that God is always at work beneath the surface—through small acts of kindness, moments of faith, conversations, and the willingness of ordinary people to answer God’s call. 🌾✨

This Sunday also celebrates something beautiful about the life of the church: the strength of its people. A church does not thrive because of one voice alone. It flourishes when members of every generation step forward to teach, serve, lead, and share the gifts God has placed within them. We are grateful for faithful lay leaders like Christian who embody the spirit of a living, growing church. 🕊️💛

🍽️❤️ What if a few hours of your Saturday could help feed dozens of your neighbors? ❤️🍽️

This Saturday, June 13 at **5:30 PM**, our Guest Chef team will once again serve alongside Ascencia, helping prepare and serve a meal for those experiencing homelessness and hardship in our community.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:35, *“For I was hungry and you gave me food.”* Later He adds, *“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”* 🕊️

When people gather around a meal, something powerful happens. Barriers come down. Conversations begin. Dignity is restored. Communities become stronger. A warm plate of food may only last an evening, but kindness can leave an impact for years. 🌎✨

Every other month, members and friends of ICUMC come together to carry out one of Christianity’s oldest callings: feeding the hungry and caring for our neighbors. Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or trying community service for the first time, we’d love to have you join us.

🕊️ Honoring the Life of Käthie van Houten 🕊️

Tomorrow, April 25 at 2:00 PM, we gather at ICUMC to remember and celebrate the life of our dear friend, Käthie—a long-time member whose kindness, faith, and presence shaped our community in lasting ways.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

A service of committal will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Hollywood Hills, with a reception back at the church around 4:30 PM as we continue sharing stories, memories, and the love she gave so freely.

If Käthie ever made you feel seen, welcomed, or at home—you are invited. Come pay your respects. Come remember her laughter, her faith, and the quiet ways she reflected God’s love in this world.

Let’s show up for her the way she always showed up for others. 💛
