🍽️🏓 What are you doing Thursday night?

If the answer is “nothing yet,” we have an idea.

Join us this THURSDAY, August 20 at 6:30 PM for Open Table—a FREE potluck dinner, a little friendly ping pong competition, and a chance to spend time with people you actually enjoy being around. 😄

Bring a favorite dish. Bring a friend. Bring your appetite. Or just bring yourself. There’s always room at the table. ❤️

We love Sunday worship. But church was never meant to be a once-a-week appointment.

The early Christians “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” — Acts 2:42

Fellowship meant showing up for one another in ordinary moments: eating together, talking, laughing, praying, and making room for people who were new to the group. That’s the spirit behind Open Table.

And yes… there will be ping pong. 🏓🔥

Come see what happens when church gets together simply because we want to. No agenda. No pressure. Just good food, good people, and a warm Thursday night together.

🩸Right now, somebody is waiting for the blood you could give.

Our Blood Drive is this Sunday, August 16, and this one comes at an especially important time. The American Red Cross declared an emergency blood shortage in July, after the national blood supply fell nearly 25% in June. Summer donations have been running dangerously low while hospitals continue caring for patients who need transfusions.

A few numbers worth knowing:

🩸 Someone in the U.S. needs blood about **every 2 seconds**.
🩸 Only about **3% of eligible Americans donate blood**.
🩸 The Red Cross needs more than **13,000 blood donations every day** to meet hospital needs.

And where does that blood go? To people facing **traumatic injuries, surgeries, cancer treatment, heart procedures, organ transplants, burns, and other medical emergencies**. More than **21 million blood components are transfused in the U.S. each year.**

So here’s our ask: **don’t wait until Sunday to decide. Sign up now.** 🙏

🍽️ What if one evening could make someone’s entire week?

On Saturday, August 8 at 5:30 PM, our Guest Chef Team will once again partner with Ascencia to prepare and serve a meal for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. It’s one of the simplest—and most meaningful—ways we live out our faith together. ❤️

The Apostle John writes, “Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” (1 John 3:18) 🕊️

That’s exactly what this evening is about. Chopping ingredients. Serving plates. Sharing smiles. Treating every person with dignity. Sometimes the most powerful sermon isn’t preached from a pulpit—it’s served across a dinner table.

Whether you’ve volunteered a handful of times or you’re thinking, “I’ve always wanted to help, but I wasn’t sure how,” this is a wonderful place to start. You’ll work alongside a welcoming team, meet incredible people, and help continue ICUMC’s mission of serving Glendale with compassion.
