THE GOSPEL DEFINED — Colossians 1:13–29
What is the Gospel?
We often answer, “the good news.” We may point to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus—and rightly so. But what makes those events good news? What was God accomplishing through them? And why does the Gospel demand a response from us?
This Sunday, we’ll follow Paul’s words in Colossians 1 as we see the Gospel as the announcement that the rightful King has come to reclaim what sin and death have corrupted and bring it back under the reign of God.
Who is this King?
What has been corrupted?
How does He reclaim it?
What does His reign produce?
And finally—what happens when this King comes to reclaim me?
Join us this Sunday at Glencoe Church of Christ as we open God’s Word together and consider “The Gospel Defined.”

BROKEN CISTERNS
This Sunday

We all thirst for something — security, significance, acceptance, purpose. That ache isn't a flaw. It's by design.

The problem is where we go looking for it.

In Jeremiah 2:13, God's people are charged with two evils: they forsook the fountain of living water, and dug their own cisterns instead — cisterns that couldn't hold water. We're still doing it. Career, image, relationships, control — we build it, manage it, and when it still doesn't satisfy, we learn how to numb the ache instead of naming it.

This Sunday we're asking why we keep going back to what we already know is broken — and what Jesus meant when He stood up in the middle of Israel's most joyful feast and said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink."
