US Kadampa Buddhist Festivals and Celebrations US Kadampa Festivals and Celebrations Each year we gather regionally for Dharma Celebrations and nationally for our annual US Festival.

Each celebration and festival is centered on a blessing empowerment of a particular Buddha and relevant teachings to further our practice and connection with each Buddha. Everyone, whether new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner will enjoy attending the Festival. Beginners will learn practical methods to solve their daily problems, while long-time students will be further inspired on their spiritual path!

After receiving the blessing empowerment of Buddha Shakyamuni Saturday, streams of sincere practitioners gathered over a home-cooked meal, connected at the cafe, and simply enjoyed the beautiful blue skies adorning KMC New York.

How special to have this weekend together to enjoy the teachings, discuss Dharma, and put Geshe-la’s advice “Please be happy” into practice.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of World Peace Temple in Glen Spey, NY. The anniversary adds another special layer to the site of this year's US National Festival. The Temple is one of six Kadampa Temples worldwide designed by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche and constructed largely by Kadampa builders and volunteers.

At the Temple's opening in 2006, Venerable Geshe-la said, "This Temple is one of the best ways of benefiting other living beings. Its main function is for living beings who see it or who develop faith to receive special blessings. It gives great inspiration. Whoever sees a Temple and the images of Buddha will receive Buddha’s blessings. There is no difference whether they are Buddhist or non-Buddhist, whenever anyone sees an image of Buddha, or Temple, they will receive blessings. Therefore, I can say, from my side, or from our side, that this is the best public benefit or public service."

There will be over 500 people joining us in person for the festival later this week. If you are one of them, you might wish to take a moment to reflect on the blessings everyone is receiving simply by being in this sacred environment.
