This is Laminin.
Laminin is a protein — the very molecule that holds human beings together. When viewed under a microscope, it forms the shape of a cross.
Isn't it astounding? The same God who spoke galaxies into existence chose to embed the image of the Cross within the very framework of our bodies. The One who holds the universe together also holds you intricately, intimately, and intentionally.
Laminin plays a crucial role in our formation and function. It's no accident that the molecule responsible for cellular adhesion mirrors the symbol of our redemption. God designed you not just to live in His image, but to carry the mark of the Cross — a daily, living testimony that you are His.
In Colossians 1:17 NLT, Scripture declares:
"He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together."
This truth isn't just biological — it's deeply spiritual.
Now I could have just stopped right there, but let's go deeper.
In Hebrew, the word דָּבַק (dāvaq) means to cling, to cleave, to hold fast. It's the word used for covenant love — the unbreakable bond between God and His people. It's the word used when we are told to "cling to the Lord your God" (Deut. 11:22) — to be fused, joined, and inseparable.
Just as laminin holds every cell of your body together, dāvaq speaks of how His presence holds your spirit. You were created not only to reflect Christ, but to cling to Him, body, soul, and spirit. You are held, branded, and bonded by the Cross, in the deepest places of your being.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the beauty of Your design — for crafting even the tiniest molecule to remind me of who I belong to. You are the One who holds me together when everything else falls apart. Teach me to cling to You with all that I am — to dāvaq — to cleave to You, trust You, and walk in covenant love every day of my life. Amen.
