Sometimes we assume that difficult seasons mean we've done something wrong.

Maybe God has abandoned us.

Maybe we're being punished.

Maybe we've failed.

But what if that's not the whole story?

Psalm 23 reminds us that valleys are part of the journey.

The valley is real.

The fear is real.

The uncertainty is real.

But so is the Shepherd.

Swipe through and see why.

Then join us tomorrow as we explore one of the most loved passages in all of Scripture.

Quick question:

When you hear the word "restoration," what is the FIRST word that comes to mind?

👇 One word only.

Psalm 23:3 says:

"He restores my soul."

Let's see what God is restoring in people's lives today.

How many of us are trying to carry burdens God never asked us to carry?

Psalm 23:2 says:

*"He makes me lie down in green pastures."*

Notice what David doesn't say.

He doesn't say the sheep found rest.
He doesn't say the sheep created rest.
He doesn't say the sheep earned rest.

The Shepherd led them there.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stop striving long enough to trust the One who is leading you.

What burden have you been carrying lately that you need to place back into the Shepherd's hands?

Share one word in the comments that describes what you're trusting God with right now.

🙏 I'll be praying over every comment this week.

Some seasons feel like mountaintops.

Others feel like valleys.

In the valleys, it is easy to focus on what is missing, what is uncertain, or what lies ahead. We can become so aware of the shadows around us that we forget who is walking beside us.

Yet some of the deepest lessons of faith are not learned when everything is going well. They are learned when we discover that God is still faithful in the hard places.

The Shepherd does not abandon His sheep when the path becomes difficult.

He leads.
He protects.
He provides.
And He stays.

Sometimes the greatest comfort is not knowing how the valley ends.

It is knowing that you do not walk through it alone.

"The Lord is my shepherd..." (Psalm 23:1)

Welcome to everyone joining us online!

We’re really glad you’re here with us today. Whether you’re watching from home, traveling, or just checking things out, you’re part of the service this morning.

Today, we come together as a Church family to be equipped for the good works that the Lord has set before us. Pastor James will be talking about the God who meets us under the tree like he did Elijah in 1 Kings 19. If you're just completely worn out and wishing God would just take you out of this world, this is the message for you!

If you’re watching online, we’d love for you to say hello in the comments and let us know where you’re joining from. And if you have any questions as we go through the message, feel free to drop those in the chat as well.

Thanks again for being here with us today. Let’s open God’s Word together.

Tomorrow at Cornerstone we're talking about one of the most surprising stories in the Bible.

A prophet who called down fire from heaven...

Then found himself exhausted, discouraged, and sitting under a tree wondering if he should quit.

If you've been carrying a lot lately...

If you're tired...

If you're discouraged...

If you're wondering whether God sees what you're going through...

This message is for you.

And after service, stick around for our monthly potluck lunch.

No rush.
No pressure.

Just good food, good conversation, and a chance to spend time with people who genuinely care about one another.

We'd love to meet you.

Some questions people rarely say out loud:

• Does anything I do really matter?

• Am I the only one struggling?

• Why am I so tired all the time?

• Where is God in all of this?

One of the greatest prophets in the Bible asked questions that weren't much different.

This Sunday we're walking through one of the most honest stories in Scripture.

Not a story about victory.

A story about burnout.

And the God who meets people there.

Ever notice how sometimes the hardest moment comes after the battle is over?

You survive the crisis.

You finish the project.

You care for the loved one.

You get through the difficult season.

Then suddenly...

You crash.

That's exactly what happened to Elijah.

Just days after one of the greatest victories in Scripture, he found himself sitting under a tree asking God to let him die.

This Sunday we're looking at a story that reminds us even strong people get tired.

And God isn't surprised by it.

Have you ever looked back on your life and realized that God was working in ways you couldn't see at the time?

In the moment, all we see are the questions.

We see the diagnosis. We see the financial pressure. We see the uncertainty. We see the closed doors.
But God sees the whole picture.
The Israelites couldn't see a path through the Red Sea.

Joseph couldn't see a throne from a prison cell.

Elijah couldn't see God's plan while sitting under a tree exhausted and discouraged.

And many times, we can't see what God is doing either.

But we can trust who He is.

If you're carrying something heavy this week, don't lose heart. God is still working, even when the next step isn't obvious.

đź“– "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD." Isaiah 55:8

What's something God helped you through that didn't make sense at the time, but you can see His hand in it now?
