Nara Unateze is a town located in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State Nigeria. It has 5 major autonomous communities: Ishiogbo, Umuawalagu, Amofia/Amaegu,umuiba and umuokparangene and the rest. The traditional ruler is Igwe Nathan Ogbu, the Odenigbo 1 of Nara, who is also a prominent member of the Enugu State council of Chiefs. The town is run by a council of elders who along with the

traditional ruler make important decisions. Like most other Ibo towns, it has a republican form of government. The town is bordered by Ugbawka, Nkerefi, Ihuokpara, Mburubu, and Isu Ohaozara. The major villages are Amofia, Umuiba, Amaegu, Umueze, Onuorie, Imeama, Obodoachiumuokpalangene,Obinaguumuokparangene,Obodooja,Imeamaumuokparangene Obinagu, Eziagu, Agbariji, Ndiaguede, and Ishiogbo. About 78% of the populace are literate and the people are generally known for their hospitality to strangers.90% of community are Christians ranging from Catholics 30%, Anglicans 25%, Methodists 29% and Pentecostals 50% of the Christian population. The current deputy governor of Enugu State Mr Sunday Onyebuchi hails from Isiogbo Nara while the chairman of the State Electoral Commission Mr Abel Nwobodo hails from Umuawalagu.
