For those of you that have not heard, we are having a “Drive-in” church service tomorrow at 10:30! The message from Pastor Brauer is below. Since the service is at 10:30, we will not be having our Virtual Sunday School on Zoom at 11. We will be available to anyone who wants to catch up and share prayer requests around 1pm tomorrow. Let us know if you are interested and we will set up a meeting in Zoom!
Dear Church Family,
The big news this week is our upcoming Easter service!
We will be having one. It will be unusual in its format, but dynamic in its impact!
In Hanover county, our Sheriff’s Office works closely with area churches in a program called Worship Watch. After fielding inquiries regarding the possibility of holding church services where each family remained in their vehicles, they looked into it and determined that such a service could be held if we follow the guidelines given.
Of course, we want to do our part to stem the tide of this epidemic, and we want to gather to celebrate the resurrection. This way we can do both!
So here is how we need to do it, for our own logistical purposes, and to comply with the guidelines we’ve been given.
The service will begin at 10:30. You will need to arrive well before that time to get parked. For practical reasons, we decided not to use the pavilion. Vehicles will enter from Rocky Ridge Road and fill our paved parking lot first, separating each vehicle from another with an empty parking space.
Our security team will direct parking. Taller vehicles may be directed towards the spaces further from the outdoor stage. As Baptists, I’m confident no one will mind being on the back row J
If the paved area fills up, remaining vehicles will be sent to the gravel parking lot on the other side of Winn’s Church Road. Spaces are not marked there, so our team will assist you in leaving appropriate space between vehicles.
Of course, it will be best to plan to avoid needing to use a bathroom. We will keep the length of the service somewhat compressed to assist you in this. The yellow house will be open for emergency bathroom stops. If it is occupied, please wait your turn on the front porch.
There will be a couple of receptacles where you may drop off your offering without getting out. It is imperative that people remain in their vehicles!
The old mechanic who showed me the ropes working on railroad equipment was a colorful character and often had a unique way of putting things. Occasionally, when confronted with an oddball piece of equipment, or an unusual problem with any machine, I would ask him if he had done this before. He would reply, “This one and one more will make twice”. That’s certainly how we feel about this service. We will do our very best to make it a great experience. Arrive early, be patient, plan to bless and be blessed.
I’m sure that not everyone will be able to join us. The podcast will still be posted, though a little later than usual.
For those who can come, it’s a joy to say something I haven’t been able to say in a while- “See you on Sunday!”
Because He lives,
Pastor Jeff
