There are lots of great things about Passport Camps; but one of the best things is the camp staff. From Camp Director, to Bible Study and Mission Site Leaders; from Camp Pastor to Worship Leader to Program Directors, these young adults lead with courage and pour lots of love and affirmation into the lives of the campers. Our youth love the staff and are so excited when they get to see favotire staffers from previous years. Passport Camps is equipping the church for the future! So many former Passport staff are serving God’s church as Pastors, so remember these faces! They may be coming to serve a church near you!

Say “Congratulations!” to our first round volleyball tournament winners and our third annual Dance Costume Contest winners!! 🥳🎉

We hit the road at 11. We will stop at church to drop off our dirty clothes and hug our parents before we go to the Abernathy’s home at the river for a day of rest.

But don’t worry, a few more Passport posts are coming!

An important part of our week at Passport Camps has been our mission projects because we always put our faith in action. Six teams of 25 students and adults scattered across the county, partnering with local organizations who are helping people impacted by Hurricane Helene in September, 2024. One of our teams went to Ms. Claire’s home and cleaned out her basement, power washed her house, pulled up wet and moldy carpet, and helped put her house back together after it flooded nearly 2 years ago.

Another team went to Crossnore Children’s Home, a residential community for children in foster care that has served children and families for more than 100 years. Some of our work involved helping them close down their school for the summer, and working in their gardens.

Our last team went to a local nursing home and paid lots of loving attention to the residents there.

We have pictures from Ms. Claire’s and Crossnore (because that’s where our adult leaders were!).

Adult leaders are key to a successful youth trip. These trips can’t happen without them! I am so grateful that Eric and Logan said “yes” to Passport Camp 2026. Our youth absolutely love them! And so do all of the other Passport campers and Passport staff. Our week wouldn’t be the same without them! 🩷

At Passport Camp, our students spend lots of time studying scripture. The day begins with morning devotions, followed by morning celebration where the camp pastor sets us all up to engage the verse for the day, and then we go to Bible Study where, today, we took a deep dive into the verse and the book of Esther. Today’s verse was “Learn to do good. Seek justice: help the oppressed; defend the orphan; plead for the widow.” Isaiah 1:17.

In the evening, we have a worship service with unique prayer experiences, and church group devotions where we reflect on what we learned today.

In between all this Bible Study, we do take breaks to eat, go to our mission sites, hang out at the local coffee shop, and tonight, we danced! (Here’s hoping we win the costume contest!! 🪩)

A late night Passport post!

Day 1 was filled with Bible Study, working on mission sites, a free time lake adventure, worship, the rec party, and time eating, laughing, and talking together.

This week exploring Hebrews 12:1 “so then, with endurance, let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us;” learning how to follow Jesus more closely, and discovering practical ways to put our faith into practice.
