Devotional:
Chosen, Trained, and Sent
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus never called His followers to simply believe in Him—He called them to follow Him. A disciple is someone who learns from Jesus, grows to become more like Him, and obeys His teachings. But discipleship doesn’t end with personal growth. Every disciple is also sent on a mission. After spending time teaching, encouraging, and preparing His disciples, Jesus gave them a purpose: Go and make disciples. They weren’t expected to keep the good news to themselves. They were sent to share God’s love with others wherever they went. The same is true for us today. We are chosen by God to belong to Him, trained through His Word and the Holy Spirit to live like Jesus, and sent into our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities to be His witnesses. You don’t have to travel across the world to be a missionary. Every conversation, act of kindness, and opportunity to share your faith is part of God’s mission. Being a missionary isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about faithfully pointing people to Jesus with both your words and your life. As we grow as disciples, God uses us to help others begin their own journey of following Christ.
