Twas the night before the first day of school, and all through the building, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse (thank goodness)!
The pencils were sharpened and desks were by chairs, in hopes that the students would soon be there.
The moms were celebrating, while dads needed a nap. Anticipating their last few moments before the start of school-oh snap!
The teachers were ready, their classrooms were bright, as they had been preparing for their students from morning till night.
When out in the distance, there arose such a clatter, Mrs. Draper sprang to the door to see what was the matter.
The morning had come, and cars piled in, with parents doting big happy grins.
With backpacks and smiles, the students hurried in to see teachers and friends waiting to begin.
The halls filled with laughter, the classrooms came alive, and everyone knew it was time.
So welcome to our dear students, we are happy you are here! We are looking forward to making this the best school year!
