This week's sermon notes:
Carried Close To God’s Heart
Exodus 28:15-43
1. Entering into the _________________ of God
Standing between you and the presence of God was this large smoking altar! This altar was a place of blood and death.
You could not proceed to worship God until your sin was
dealt with in blood and _______________.
“It was at the Brazen-altar that the holiness and
righteousness of God were displayed: His hatred of ____________, and His justice in punishing it.” – A. W. Pink
Even with all the sacrifices given at the altar, it still wasn’t enough. The law of God was broken and the sins had to be covered and removed. Having our sins forgiven is only half
of what we need to be delivered from hell. We also need a perfect ______________________ given to our account.
2. Close to the ________________
Jesus is our Savior, Who carries our burden of sin and death on His shoulders before God as He makes His sacrifice.
Jesus also carries us close to His heart. Oh how He ____________ us! He gave His own life for us!
“The names of God’s people are borne upon the heart of the priest, shining out in all the sparkling lustre and beauty of
the stones on which they are engraved. This symbolizes the fact that believers are before God in all the acceptance of Christ. When God looks upon the great High Priest, He beholds His people upon His heart, as well as upon His shoulders, adorned with all the beauty of the One on whom His eye ever rests with perfect delight. . . .For they are those for whom He has died, and whom He has _______________ with His own most precious blood, those whom He has made the objects of His own love, and whom finally He will bring
to be forever with Him; and He pleads for them before God according to all the strength of these ties.” – Arthur Pink
3. Knowing the _________________ of God
Now we have direct ____________ to God and His Spirit
helps us and guides us if we follow Jesus and trust only in
God and His Word. The answer to all our questions are in God’s Word and the Holy Spirit leads us to understand
God’s Word and will. The Holy Spirit guides us as we follow Jesus Christ.
4. _________________ to the LORD
This was a reminder that the only way to come before God
and be accepted was to come in __________________. This plaque on the turban declared that not only was the High Priest holy but all the people he brought before God were
now Holy to the Lord due to God’s acceptance of the High Priest’s sacrifice.
Jesus bears the burden of our sin on His shoulders. He
carries us to God close to His heart because of His great love for His bride. And Jesus comes before God in perfect
holiness to offer Himself as the only truly acceptable sacrifice for our sins. Then he ______________ us in His perfect righteousness as He clothed Joshua.
26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, ___________, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
Hebrews 7:26 (ESV)
