A New Year and False Hope…
I, like many of you, have been busy wishing folks a Happy and Blessed New Year, and I truly mean that! I hope it’s a great new year for everyone. But it won’t be. There will be good things and good times, maybe even a few dreams that come true. But there will also be the same disappointments, losses, and trials that we suffered in the old year. Some Christ-followers are disappointed when hard times come, but Christ never promised to keep us from hurt, loss, or anguish. What he did promise us, though, in Matthew 28:20, is that he would be with us through all the times, good and bad, triumphant or tragic. “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (ESV). So, when the coming new year starts to disappoint, as it surely will… look up, because there is One that will never disappoint, and will never leave our side. Happy New Year and Thank You, Jesus, that you will be there with us, come what may.
